#4 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey On the Road to Miami

The #4 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (17-6-5, 11-4-3-0 NCHC) will return to action in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference on Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22 with a pair of home games at Miami University (10-15-3, 4-13-1 NCHC) in Oxford, Ohio. The games will be played at the Steve Cady Arena (3,642 cap./200x85). The Huskies-RedHawkss game on Friday, Feb. 21 will begin at 7:00 p.m. (ET) and the game on Saturday, Feb. 22 will begin at 7:05 p.m. (ET). LAST TIME OUT: The Huskies skated to a 5-3 win over UMD on Feb. 14 and a 4-3 win over UMD on Feb. 15. This marked the first home sweep for the Huskies in 2013-14 and it also marked the first time the Huskies won a home game on Friday night in 2013-14. Ryan Faragher made 75 saves during the series for the Huskies, while Jimmy Murray led the offense with three goals in the two games. The victories helped the Huskies maintain its hold on first place in the NCHC standings with 36 points, while UND is in second place with 33 points.
GOOD TIMES: The Huskies are 5-1-1 since Jan. 25, which includes the 5-3, 4-3 sweep over Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 14-15. The Huskies are 4-0-0 in action against UMD this season and SCSU has not lost a game to Minnesota Duluth at home since a 3-1 setback in WCHA playoff action on March 9, 2007...The two wins over Minnesota Duluth marked the Huskies' first sweep at home in 2013-14. The Huskies' 5-3 victory on Feb. 14 was the first time SCSU has won a game at home on Friday night in 2013-14.
HOME COOKING: After a slow start at home this season, the Huskies are 3-0-1 in the last four games played at home and now own a 6-3-5 record at home this season. On the road, the Huskies own an 11-3-0 record.
OFFENSE POWER: An offensive powerhouse this season, the Huskies rank second in the nation and first in the NCHC with a scoring average of 3.68 goals per game (103 goals). SCSU ranks fourth in the nation and first in the NCHC with a power play rate of 23.4 percent (26-of-111) this season.
DOWD DATA: SCSU senior Nic Dowd became the first Husky to hit 30 points this season with his work against UMD on Feb. 14-15. Dowd tallied one goal and two assists in the weekend sweep and now tops the team with 16 goals and 30 points. This marks the second consecutive season that Dowd has posted 30 points. In his career, Dowd now has 111 points (46g/65a). He is now tied for 19th in the SCSU career books for scoring along with Fred Knipscheer (1990-93) and Tony Gruba (1990-94). Dowd owns a five-game scoring streak and has scored 4g/4a in the last five games. Nic Dowd leads the NCHC with seven power play goals this season. SCSU is 11-0--3 when Nic Dowd scores a goal this season!
LUCKY SEVEN: David Morley, Ryan Papa and Ethan Prow all bring seven-game point streaks into the Huskies' weekend series at Miami on Feb. 21-22. Morley has 3g/6a in the last seven games and currently leads the Huskies and ranks second in the NCHC with 20 assists this winter. He is tied for third on the team in scoring overall with 28 points...Prow has notched eight points in the last seven games and now has four goals and 13 assists for the Huskies in 2013-14. He ranks second among SCSU defensemen and fifth among NCHC blueliners this season for scoring...Papa has also posted eight points in the Huskies' last seven games. Papa now has five goals and 14 assists in 2013-14.
NCHC GOALIE OF THE WEEK: SCSU goalie Ryan Farahger scored two victories against Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 14-15. Faragher charted 37 saves in the 5-3 win on Feb. 14 and 38 saves in the 4-3 win on Feb. 15. Over the weekend, Faragher made a total of 75 saves and allowed only four even-strength goals against the Bulldogs.  For his efforts, Faragher was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Week for the third time this year...Faragher now has 48 career victories (48-30-8), which moves him into second place on the SCSU career charts for goalie wins ahead of Scott Meyer, who had 47 wins from 1996-2001. Brian Leitza is the Huskies' all-time career win record owner with 66 from 1994-98...Faragher is also moving up the career save charts with 2242. Mike O'Hara currently ranks second in the SCSU books with 2275 from 1988-92, while Leitza is the all-time save leader with 3500 from 1994-98.
THE MURRAY MOMENT: SCSU sophomore Jimmy Murray enjoyed a huge weekend against Minnesota Duluth. Murray opened the weekend with a two-goal evening against UMD on Feb. 14, which included the game winning goal and a crucial insurance goal in the third period. On Feb. 15, Murray scored SCSU's first goal of the evening to set the stage for the 4-3 win. On the season, Murray has nine goals and seven assists.
HUSKY NOTES AND NEWS:  Jonny Brodzinski posted his second game winning goal of the season in SCSU's 4-3 win over UMD on Feb. 15. Brodzinski ranks second on the team this season with 15 goals and 29 points....Ethan Prow paces the Huskies on the plus/minus with a +19 this winter, while Andrew Prochno is +18...In the last six games, SCSU has scored 26 goals...Miami is the only team this season to shutout the Huskies with a 2-0 win on Nov. 8 at SCSU. On Nov. 9, the Huskies rebounded with a 2-1 win over Miami at the Brooks Center. This was the first victory at home for the Huskies against Miami in the all-time series....SCSU is 3-1-1 in the last five outings against Miami. Last year, the Huskies won the NCAA Midwest Regional title with a 4-1 victory over Miami in Toldeo, Ohio on March 31, 2013. The victory provided the Huskies with their first ticket to the NCAA Frozen Four...The last time this series was played in Miami, the Huskies lost 3-2 in overtime and 2-0 on Oct. 9-10, 2009.
