St. Cloud State Women's Hockey Opens Year with 3-0 Win

St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State Women's Hockey open up the season with a 3-0 exhibition victory over the Toronto Aeros on Friday, Sept. 26 in St. Cloud, Minn. Coach Eric Rud tallied his first win as the head coach of the Huskies, with the help of assistants Steve Macdonald and Jinelle Siergiej.
Lauren Hespenheide netted the first goal of the 2014-15 season in the first period at 14:49. She was helped out by line mate Abby Ness. Extending the Huskies' lead was Kelsey Saelens in the second period getting her first collegiate goal of her career with 3:45 left in the period. The lone assist was awarded to junior forward Hanna Brodt. In the third period, Amanda Arbogast and Kalli Funk, got the puck to Jenna Redford who put it in the net to score her first collegiate goal of her career.

All three goalies helped in the shutout win against the Aeros, starting the season off right. Jacqueline Audet made her first college appearance between the pipes in the third period to hold onto the shutout and get her first win of her career.
The Huskies return to the ice next weekend in Minneapolis at the Ridder.  They face Boston University on October 3rd and Penn State University on October 4th. Both games will be played at 4:07pm.
The Huskies will return home on Oct. 10-11, for a series against Lindenwood University with start times of 3:07 pm both days.
