St. Cloud State Men's Hockey on the road to Denver on Jan. 16-17

The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (9-10-1, 4-5-1-0 NCHC) will continue its 2014-15 season with a pair of conference games against #13 University of Denver (11-7-1, 4-5-0 NCHC) at Magness Arena in Denver, Colo. (6,315 cap./200x85) on Jan. 16-17. The action will get underway on Jan. 16 at 8:37 p.m. (CT), while the pucks drops on Jan. 17 at 8:07 p.m. (CT) The game on Jan. 16 will be televised live on Root Sports in the Denver area. Fans with DirecTV can watch it on channel 683 and on Dish Network channels 414 or 5414 (HD). The game on Jan. 17 will be available only on NCHC.tv/scsu. Fans can listen to these games on KCML FM 99.9 (www.lite999.com).

JOE NCHC: Joe Rehkamp earned NCHC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his collegiate career thanks to his play vs. Miami on Jan. 9-10. Rehkamp scored the game winning goal in both games for the Huskies and also added an assist to each the honors. These were Rehkamp's first two goals of the 2014-15 season.

#JB4HB: SCSU junior forward Jonny Brodzinski played in his 100th consecutive game as a college player on Jan. 10. Brodzinski owns an 8-game point scoring streak after posting one goal and two assists in the series sweep of Miami. Brodzinski leads the team with 20 points and 12 goals this season. This marks the third consecutive season that Brodzinski has scored 20-or-more points...Brodzinski continued his march toward 100 career points with his work against Miami. Brodzinski currently has 55 goals and 39 assists for a total of 94 career points. Brodzinski ranks 11th in the team records for most career goals with 55, which places him ahead of current NHLer Matt Hendricks, who had 54 goals from 2000-04. Mark Hartigan is SCSU's all-time goal leader with 86 markers from 1999-02.

FIRST WIN: Sophomore goalie Rasmus Reijola made his second start of the season on Jan. 10. His 17 saves in the contest helped him gain his first collegiate victory in the nets.

CAREER HIGH: Sophomore netminder Charlie Lindgren hit a career game-high with 37 saves in the 3-1 win vs. Miami on Jan. 9. His previous career game-high was 36 saves in a 3-2 loss to North Dakota on Nov. 22, 2014. Lindgren improved to 8-9-1 on the season with the victory. His season goals against average stands at 2.53 and his save rate is now .911 this winter.
A MORLEY MENTION: SCSU junior David Morley enjoyed a two-goal evening during the Huskies' 3-1 victory over Miami on Jan. 9. He completed the weekend with an assist on Jan. 10. The two goals pushed Morley's career total to 25 goals and 87 career points in 98 games played at SCSU. The Huskies are 5-0 when Morley scores this year.
MORE HUSKIES HEADLINES: Rookie blueliner Nathan Widman paces SCSU on the plus/minus at +5 this season...Junior forward Kalle Kossila chalked up his team-leading 10th assist of the season on Jan. 9. Kossila continues his move toward 100 points. In 98 career games, Kossila currently has 30 goals and 55 assists for a total of 85 career points. He is one of four Finnish players on the SCSU roster this winter..A 2015 Vote for Hobey candidate, Jonny Brodzinski currently leads the nation with seven power play goals in 2014-15. As a team, SCSU had two power play markers vs. Miami and currently ranks 11th in the nation with a power play rate of 22.2%.
FIRST SWEEP: The St. Cloud State men's hockey team gained its first sweep of the 2014-15 season with a pair of victories over #5/6 Miami. On Jan. 9, the Huskies scored a 3-1 win over the RedHawks and then completed the sweep with a 3-2 decision over Miami at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center...SCSU is now 7-9-0 vs. nationally ranked teams this season and the Huskies are 6-5-0 in games played at home this year.
