St. Cloud State Men's Hockey to host Western Michigan on Jan. 23-24

The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (9-12-1, 4-7-1-0 NCHC) will continue its 2014-15 season with a pair of conference games against Western Michigan University (10-9-3, 3-6-3 NCHC) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (5,159 cap./200x100) on Jan. 23-24. The action will get underway on Jan. 23 at 7:37 p.m. (CT), while the pucks drops on Jan. 24 at 7:07 p.m. (CT) Fans can listen to these games on KCML FM 99.9 (www.lite999.com) and KVSC FM 88.1 (www.kvsc.org)...fans can watch these games on Charter Cable channel 823 HD/426 on the SCSU Sports Network. Both games are also schedule to air live on Comcast Cable channel 999 in the Twin Cities...fans can watch the live video stream of this game on NCHC.tv/scsu

SENIOR CLASS: SCSU senior blueliner Andrew Prochno has been named as a top 20 candidate for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award. DENVER DROUGHT: The Huskies suffered a 3-1, 4-1 series sweep at the University of Denver on Jan. 16-17. Joe Rehkamp posted SCSU's lone goal on Jan. 16, while Nick Oliver added SCSU's goal on Jan. 17.
FIRST GOAL: Senior captain Nick Oliver posted his first goal of the 2014-15 season on Jan 17 at Denver. The goal was Oliver's fifth goal during his career with the Huskies. Oliver has played in 127 games at SCSU over the past four seasons.
JOE ON A ROLL: Senior Joe Rehkamp has notched three goals in his last four games. On the season, Rehkamp now has three goals, four assists and seven points. The three goals are a career season-high for Rehkamp, who now has six goals in his career at SCSU.
ON THE SCORE SHEET: St. Cloud State senior defender Jarrod Rabey added his first assist and first point of the season with his helper on Nick Oliver's goal on Jan. 17.
100 GAMES: SCSU juniors Kalle Kossila and Jimmy Murray both played in their 100th career games on Jan. 17. Kossila has charted 30 goals and 55 assists during his career, while Murray has 20 goals and 33 assists as a Husky. Of note, Joe Rehkamp's next game played at SCSU will be his 100th career game for the Huskies.
SIX NEEDED: SCSU junior and Hobey Baker candidate Jonny Brodzinski is six points away from joining the Huskies' 100-point club. In 102 games played, Brodzinski has 94 points (55 goals/39 assists). He also ranks third in the nation with seven power play goals this season. Brodzinski would become the 26th player at SCSU (all games played at the Division I level) to score 100-or-more points. The last person to join the Huskies' 100-point club was Nic Dowd, who had 121 points from 2010-14. Ryan Lasch is SCSU's all-time leading scorer with 183 points from 2006-10... The other players on the Huskies' roster closing in on 100-points include senior defender Andrew Prochno, who has charted 87 points (16g/71a) during his career and junior forward Kalle Kossila, who has posted 85 points (30g/55a) at SCSU.
BRONCO BITS: Earlier this season, the Huskies posted a 4-3 victory and a 1-1 tie at Western Michigan on Nov. 14-15, 2014. In the all-time series against WMU, the Huskies own a 2-2-2 record against the Broncos. In games played at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center against WMU, the Huskies own a 1-2-1 record that includes a 5-5 tie and 2-1 loss on Jan. 17-18, 2014...Kalle Kossila has 3g/2a during his career against WMU, while Andrew Prochno has notched 5 assists against the Broncos.

CALLED UP: Former SCSU goaltender Mike Lee (2009-12) was recently called up to the NHL by the Arizona Coyotes. He dressed with Arizona for several games before being send back to Arizona's AHL team in Portland, Maine on Jan. 21.
A FEW MORE NOTES AND NEWS: SCSU is 7-11-0 in action against nationally ranked teams this season...as of Jan. 22, SCSU's strength of schedule was ranked #2 in the nation...in the PWR on Jan. 22, SCSU was ranked 23rd and Western Michigan was ranked 21st...SCSU is 5-0-0 in games when David Morley scores a goal...SCSU is 9-2-0 when it scores 3-or-more goals this season...SCSU has scored four or more goals in a game three times this season.
NCHC CHAMPIONS: St. Cloud State University captured the inaugural regular season championship of the NCHC in 2013-14. The Huskies finished the year with a first place mark of 15-6-3-0 in the always rugged NCHC. SCSU posted 48 league points to win the Penrose Trophy, while North Dakota trailed in second place with 45 points. This marked the second consecutive season that SCSU has won a regular season conference title. In 2013, the Huskies won the WCHA regular season championshp.
