Minot, N.D. – Minot State scored the first basket of the game and never looked back as the Beavers went on to a 97-89 men's basketball Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) win over St. Cloud State Saturday night.

The Huskies finished the weekend with a split and are 11-9 overall and 7-7 in the NSIC. Minot State is 10-10 overall and 5-9 in league play.

St. Cloud State junior guard Jordan Poydras (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored 31 points for the second time this season, one point shy of his career high. He also contributed a game high nine rebounds and handed out six assists. He made five three-point baskets and was ten of 12 from the free throw line.

The Huskies trailed 45-32 at the half and were able to get within six points of the Beavers twice in the final five and a half minutes of the game.

A three-point basket by the Huskies Chuckie Smith (Minneapolis, Minn.) followed by five straight points from Poydras pulled the Huskies to 95-89 with seven seconds left in the game.

Huskies Tip-Ins
Junior guard Eddie Alcantara (New York, N.Y.) scored 15 points for the Huskies.
Senior forward Connor Niehaus (Fremont, Neb.) and junior forward Donnell Cegers (Milwaukee, Wis.) each scored 12 points.
The Huskies out rebounded Minot State 44-33 in the game
St. Cloud State shot 43.8 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Minot State Hits
Everett Robinson led the Beavers with 27 points and seven rebounds. He was ten of 16 from the field.
Thomas Korf added 19 points and made five of six three-point baskets.
Michael Pelo went six of six from the line and scored 17 points.
The Beavers shot 50.8 percent from the field and 52.2 percent from beyond the arc.
The win was the second for the Beavers in the all-time series. The Huskies had won the last three games against Minot State.
