Layup gives Concordia-St. Paul, 59-57 win over the Huskies in men's basketball

St. Paul, Minn. – Concordia-St. Paul's Keith Crockett layup with 3.1 seconds left gave the Golden Bears a 59-57 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) win over St. Cloud State Saturday in St. Paul.
The Huskies record falls to 7-7 overall and 3-5 in the NSIC. Concordia-St. Paul improved to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in league play.
St. Cloud State led by nine points, 39-30, with 15:48 left in the second period. The Golden Bears went on a 12-2 run capped by a pair of Shea Mandli free throws to take a 42-41 lead at 10:34. With 5:32 remaining the CSP lead was 55-47.
The Huskies worked their way back in the next five minutes on a 10-2 run and tied the game 57-57 with :33 seconds left. Sophomore guard Scottie Stone (Melrose, Minn.) scored the last five points of the run including a traditional three-point play that tied the game.
Crockett scored the go ahead basket and Huskies junior guard Jordan Poydras (Los Angeles, Calif.) put up a contested three-point attempt at the buzzer that didn't fall.
