Huskies to host #5/6 Miami on Jan. 9-10

The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (7-10-1, 2-5-1-0 NCHC) will continue its 2014-15 season with a pair of conference games against #5/6 Miami University (14-6-0, 7-3-0 NCHC) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. on Jan. 9-10. The action will get underway on Jan. 9 at 7:37 p.m., while the pucks drops on Jan. 10 at 7:07 p.m. For complete ticket information on these two games, please visit www.scsutickets.com or call 1-877-SCSUTIX. The game on Jan. 9 will be televised live on Fox College Sports and Fox Sports North Plus, while the game on Jan. 10 will be televised live on Charter Cable SCSU Sports Network (channel 823 HD/426) and in the Twin Cities on Comcast Cable channel 999. Fans can listen to these games on KCML FM 99.9 (www.lite999.com) or KVSC FM 88.1 (www.kvsc.org).

TRADING CARD NIGHTS ON JAN. 9-10: The first two pages of 2014-15 SCSU hockey player cards will be given away on Jan. 9-10 at the game vs. Miami. The first 2,000 fans will get a free player card sheet when they enter the game.
HUSKIES VS. BOBCATS: The Huskies split a weekend series at home against Quinnipiac to kickoff 2015. On Jan. 2, SCSU came back from a 2-0 deficit in the 2nd period to earn a 3-2 win. Goals were notched by David Morley, Daniel Tedesco and Judd Peterson scored the GWG with 1:41 in the third. Charlie Lindgren charted 26 saves to gain the win for SCSU...on Jan. 3, SCSU dropped a 4-1 match at the HBNHC against Quinnipiac. SCSU's lone goal was scored by Jonny Brodzinski at 16:10 of the 3rd period. In the game, SCSU was outshot 28-24.

CLOSING IN: St. Cloud State junior forward Jonny Brodzinski owns a six-game point scoring streak (best on the squad this season) going into the weekend series vs. Miami. Brodzinski had one assist and one goal vs. QU and now has 54 goals and 37assists, which puts him at 91 career points. He needs nine points to become the 26th member of the Huskies' 100-point club (all points scored at the NCAA DI level). Brodzinski's 54 goals ties him for 11th on the Huskies' career list along with current NHLer Matt Hendricks, who had 54 goals from 2000-04. He is currently playing pro hockey with the Edmonton Oilers this season...Jonny Brodzinski has played in 98 consecutive games and could play in his 100th game as a Husky on Saturday night vs. Miami.

FIRST GWG: Judd Peterson notched his first career game winning goal for the Huskies on Jan. 2 during SCSU's 3-2 victory over Quinnipiac. On the season, Peterson now has 2g/2a.
DEUCES WILD:Â Nick Oliver, Tim Daly, Niklas Nevalaine and Blake Winiecki all charted their second assists of the season with helpers on goals during the the Huskies' 3-2 win over QU on Jan. 2.
FIRST GOAL: Soph forward Daniel Tedesco charted his first goal of the 2014-15 season on Jan. 2. Tedesco now has 3g/8a during his career with the Huskies.
RANKED FOES: Miami marks the 8th top 20 nationally ranked opponent for the Huskies in 2014-15. SCSU is 5-9-0 in games against nationally ranked opponents this season.
MORE HUSKIES HEADLINES: The Huskies allowed their first shorthanded goal of the 2014-15 season during their 4-1 loss to Quinnipiac on Jan. 3...SCSU is 1-6-1 in games played against Miami in the city of St. Cloud...David Morley's goal on Jan. 2 was his 60th career point at SCSU...NathanWidman leads the Huskies this season on the plus/minus at +5...the Huskies are ranked ninth in the nation on the power play this week at 21.6% (16/74). Of note, Miami ranks seventh in the nation with an average of 15.2 penalty minutes per game...on the topic of power play, Jonny Brodzinski still leads the nation with seven power play goals this season in 18 games played...SCSU is 4-0-0 when David Morley scores a goal in 2014-15...SCSU is 5-4-0 in games played on Friday night and 2-6-1 in games played on Saturday nights during the 2014-15 season...SCSU is 3-1-1 when it scores first in a game and the Huskies are 4-1-1 when they lead after the second period this season.
