Scottie Stone leads men's basketball to 65-56 win over Winona State

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State sophomore guard Scottie Stone (Melrose, Minn.) scored a team high 18 points to lead the Huskies to a 65-56 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) win over Winona State Friday night at Halenbeck Hall.
St. Cloud State improved to 14-9 on the season and 10-7 in the NSIC. Winona State dropped their eighth road game and are 11-10 overall and 8-9 in the NSIC. The Huskies host Upper Iowa at 6 p.m. on Saturday and are 7-4 on their home court this season.
Stone was seven of 17 from the field and made three three-point baskets.
Huskies senior forward Connor Niehaus (Fremont, Neb.) led all players with ten rebounds, a season high for the team captain, and one board shy of his career high. He added six points and two assists to his total.
Isaiah Gray led Winona State in scoring with 19 points. He went seven of 13 from the field and made three three-point baskets.
The game was tied five times in the first. After Gray hit a three-point basket to tie the game 25-25 at the six minute mark, Stone scored the next eight points for the Huskies and ten points in a 14-2 run that helped the home team to a 39-30 halftime lead.
