Women's golf places 5th at NSIC Championships

Morton, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's golf team posted the second lowest team score of the final round and finished the 2014-15 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships in fifth place.

The Huskies posted a final round 320 on the par 72, 5,906 yard Dacotah Ridge Golf Course in Morton, Minn., to improve to a fifth place finish. St. Cloud State posted a team score of 364-356-342-320 for a 1,382 total. Augustana College won the team titel with a score of 1,284 following rounds of 321-327-320-316. Sierra Langlie of Augustana was the individual medalist as she posted rounds of 77-78-80-77 for a 312 total.
Three Huskies shot in the 70s in the final round, led by sophomore Laurel Enstrom (Rock Island, Ill.). Enstrom shot a 79 in the final round for a 334 stroke total (82-93-80-79) to place ninth on the individual leaderboard.
Senior Katie Kruchten (St. Cloud, Minn.) finished in 19th place. She carded rounds of 94-88-85-79 for a four-round total of 346.
First-year Madison Tenney (Evergreen, Colo.) fired the Huskies low round of the day posting a 78. She finished the championship in 23rd place with scores of 100-87-89-78 for a 354 total.
Junior Brooke Taylor (Chandler, Ariz.) placed 26th following rounds of 93-92-88-84 for a 357.
First-year Kendall Niehaus (Fremont, Neb.) rounded out the Huskies roster and finished with scores of 89-84.
The fifth place finish equals the Huskies best NSIC finish for the second straight year. St. Cloud State went into the championships ranked 12th in the NCAA Division II Central Region rankings.
