#12 Huskies blanked by #8 North Dakota on Nov. 18, 4-0

St. Cloud, Minn. - The #12 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (6-5-0, 2-3-0 NCHC) lost a 4-0 decision against #8 North Dakota (6-4-2, 1-3-1 NCHC) on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Huskies will complete their weekend series at the HBNHC against the Fighting Hawks on Saturday, Nov. 19. The game is slated to begin at 7:37 p.m. and tickets are still available online at www.scsutickets.com or 1-877-SCSUTIX (or at the gate on game day). Fans can also listen to the game live on REV 96.7 FM (www.rev967.com ) or KVSC FM 88.1 (www.kvsc.org). The game will be televised live by Husky Productions on the SCSU Sports Network (Charter channel 426/823) and you can watch in live on the web at NCHC.tv/scsu.
In the opening game of the series, SCSU and UND matched evenly until Shane Gersich broke the shutout at 16:46 of the first period with assists on the power play from Austin Poganski and Tyson Jost. The goal proved to be the game winner as Cam Johnson turned in a shutout performance in the nets for UND with 26 saves in the game.
In the second period, UND sealed the deal with goals by Ludvig Hoff (at 8:34) and then two more markers by Gersich (17:23 and 18:42) to make the final tally 4-0.
In the contest, UND outshot the Huskies 40-26 as Zach Driscoll took the loss in the nets for the Huskies with 28 saves and four goals allowed. Jeff Smith played the final period for SCSU with eight saves and no goals allowed. On the power play, SCSU was 0-of-4 and UND was 1-and-3.

GAME NOTES:
- The last time that SCSU was shutout was a 4-0 loss to Minnesota on March 30, 2014. The last time SCSU was shutout at the HBNHC was a 2-0 setback against Miami on Nov. 8, 2013.
- Blake Winiecki saw his six-game point scoring streak snapped against UND but he did lead the team with four shots on net.
- St. Cloud's Bill Frantti, who recently passed away, was honored before tonight's game with a moment of silence. He was a former SCSU volunteer coach and a leader in St. Cloud's hockey community. Frantti was a three-sport athlete with the Huskies during his college days and was a member of the SCSU hockey team.
- Despite the snowy and wintery conditions, a crowd of 4,693 showed up for the game between SCSU and UND on Nov. 18. This was the second largest crowd of the season at the HBNHC behind a crowd of 5,222 for the Minnesota game on Oct. 22, 2016.
