#12 St. Cloud State to host #8 North Dakota on Nov. 18-19

The #12 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (6-4-0, 2-2-0 NCHC) will continue its 2016-17 season on Nov. 18-19 with a two-game series at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. against #8 North Dakota (5-4-2, 0-3-1 NCHC). On Nov. 18, the Huskies and Fighting Hawks will square off at 7:37 p.m. On Nov. 19, the game will get underway at 7:07 p.m. Tickets are available for both games and you can purchase them online at www.scsutickets.com or by calling 1-877-SCSUTIX.

FOLLOW THE HUSKIES THIS WEEKEND: Listen to the games against UND on REV 96.7 FM (www.rev967.com) with Jim Erickson and Dave Reichel on the call from the HBNHC. IN THE POLLS: The Huskies moved up to #12 in the this week's USCHO.com and USA Hockey/USA Today Division I national polls. Last week the Huskies were ranked #13 in both polls. North Dakota is ranked #8 in this week's polls.

TEDDY BEAR TOSS: Fans should mark Dec. 10 on their calendars for the annual Teddy Bear Toss at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. SCSU will host Omaha that night and fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear or stuffed animal toy to throw onto the ice during the first intermission. All Teddy Bears and stuffed animals collected during the Toss will then be donated to the local Toys for Tots campaign in St. Cloud, which helps the area's needy during the holiday season.
WINS OUT WEST: The Huskies are fresh from a 7-3 and 4-1 weekend sweep at Colorado College on Nov. 11-12. SCSU has now won eight consecutive games at the World Arena vs. CC. The last time SCSU lost a game at CC was a 4-3 loss on Feb. 22, 2013. SCSU has outscored CC 25-9 in the last four games played.
PENALTY POINTS: On the topic of penalties, SCSU's 13 penalties on Nov. 11, were the most charted by the Huskies since they had 13 penalties against Colorado College on Dec. 11, 2010. The team record for most penalties is 28 vs. Minnesota on Dec. 19, 1992. The 40 penalty minutes on Nov. 11 is the most for the Huskies in a game since they had 35 penalty minutes vs. Michigan Tech on Feb. 25, 2012. SCSU also had 42 PIMs vs. UND on Oct. 28, 2011 and the team's record of 102 PIMs was set in that infamous Gopher game on Dec. 19, 1992.
COUNT ON THE CAPTAIN: Sophomore team captain Jimmy Schuldt broke into the scoring column at CC with his first two goals of the season. He score his first collegiate shorthanded goal on Nov. 11 and then returned on Nov. 12 with his 12th career goal. On the season, Schuldt has two goals and six assists. He leads the team on the plus/minus at +9 this winter.
THE BREAKDOWN ON BLAKE: Junior forward Blake Winiecki is on a roll. He currently owns a six-game point scoring streak and a three-game goal scoring streak. He had goals on both nights at CC and has only been held of the scoresheet twice this season. He has 6g/3a this season.
FIRST TIME AT SCSU: Sophomore blueliner Jon Lizotte scored his first collegiate goal on Nov. 11 at Colorado College. He ended his weekend in the Springs with an assist on Nov. 12. This was Lizotte's first assist of the season. Lizotte and teammate Jacob Benson both hail from Grand Forks, N.D.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO...: Jack Ahcan was named the NCHC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 14 after his 1g/2a weekend at Colorado College. Ahcan helped limit CC to just four goals and 48 shots on net in the two games. This marks Ahcan's second Rookie of the Week award in 2016-17... Jack Ahcan ranks fourth among the nation's DI defenseman with a scoring average of 1.11 points per game. He also ranks 8th among DI rookies for scoring.
NEWS AND NOTES FROM SCSU: SCSU's Niklas Nevalainen, Mikey Eyssimont and Judd Peterson all scored their 40th career points on Nov. 11 at CC. Peterson had 1g/2a in the win over the Tigers that night, while Nevalainen had an assist. Eyssimont had 1g/1a in the game. He added two goals on goals on Nov. 12 and now has 42 points (20g/22a) in two seasons at SCSU...Garrett Forster, a freshman forward, played in his first collegiate game on Nov. 12 at Colorado College.
HOLIDAY BREAK: The Huskies will enjoy a bye week on Nov. 25-26. SCSU will return to the ice on Dec. 2-3 with a weekend trip to Kalamazoo, Mich. for games against NCHC rival Western Michigan. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT UND: SCSU and UND only played twice during the 2015-16 season. On Nov. 20, 2015, UND gained a 4-3 win at SCSU. On Nov. 21, 2015, the Huskies rallied for a 6-1 win...UND owns a 66-39-12 series lead against the Huskies. The first time these two squads played, SCSU gained an 8-1 win on Jan. 6, 1947. SCSU is 4-6-0 in the last 10 games played in the series and 2-3-0 in the last five games played...SCSU is 20-26-6 vs. UND in games played at home...SCSU will complete this year's series against UND with a pair of games against the Fighting Hawks on Feb. 3-4 in Grand Forks, N.D.
