#13 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey on the road to CC

 The #13 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (4-4-0, 0-2-0 NCHC) will continue its 2016-17 season on Nov. 11-12 with a two-game series at Colorad College (3-5-0, 1-1-0 NCHC). Both games will be played at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo. The game on Nov. 11 will begin at 8:37 p.m. (CT) and on Nov. 12, the game is slated to begin at 8:07 p.m. (CT).

IN THE POLLS: The Huskies dropped to #13 in the this week's USCHO.com and USA Hockey/USA Today Division I national polls. Last week the Huskies were ranked #8 in both polls. Colorado College is not ranked in this week's polls.

YOUNG GUNS: SCSU's freshman have accounted for 25 points this season (8g/17a) and its sophomores have posted 30 points (10g/20a). The junior class has tallied 19 points (11g/10a) and SCSU's seniors have scored 8 points (1g/7a) this season. SCSU freshmen have charted three GWGs this season.

TIGER TALES: The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team will continue its 2016-17 season with a pair of games at Colorado College on Nov. 11-12. CC owns a 49-41-7 series lead against the Huskies. The series started on Jan. 23, 1989 with a 5-2 win for SCSU at CC. SCSU is 4-1-0 in the last five meetings against CC and the Huskies are 8-1-1 in the last 10 meetings against CC. Last year, the Huskies posted a 5-2 and 9-3 sweep of the Tigers at the World Arena on March 4-5 to end the regular season. SCSU split a weekend series at home last year against the Tigers with a 2-1 win and a 5-2 loss. The last time SCSU lost a game at Colorado College was a 4-3 setback on Feb. 22, 2013.
STREAK SNAPPED: St. Cloud State saw its four-game win streak snapped on Nov. 4-5 with a pair of losses to #1 ranked Minnesota Duluth. The Huskies lost by scores of 5-3 in both contests. SCSU has lost six consecutive games to UMD at the HBNHC. The last win for the Huskies at home against UMD was a 4-3 win on Feb. 15, 2014.
JUMP START: Sophomore forward Robby Jackson scored a goal in the first minute of play during both of SCSU's games against UMD on Nov. 4-5. The goal on Nov. 4 was Jackson's first of the season.
LEADERS OF THE PACK: Judd Peterson, Blake Winiecki, Patrick Newell and Jack Ahcan all lead SCSU this season with seven points apiece. Ahcan and and Will Borgen pace the Huskies this year with six assists apiece, while Peterson leads SCSU with six goals this year.
LEADER ON THE D:Â Jack Ahcan ranks eighth in the 8th nation among DI defenseman with an average of 1.00 points per game.
HOMECOMING IN COLORADO: Mikey Eyssimont, a sophomore forward, is a resident of Littleton, Colo. He is a grad of Chatfield Senior High School and played junior hockey at Sioux Falls in the USHL. He also played hockey for the Colorado Thunderbirds. Eyssimont has three goals and two assists this season and 17 goals and 21 assists during his college career...SCSU's other Colorado connection belongs to senior forward Ben Storm, who is a draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche.
NEWS AND NOTES FROM SCSU: SCSU ranks first in the nation among DI teams for the least amount of penalty minutes per game with an average of 7.0 PIM in 2016-17...SCSU senior Ben Storm played in his 100th career college game on Nov. 5... SCSU is 20-15-2 in games played at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo...Coach Bob Motzko owns a 20-13-4 record against Colorado College during his career at SCSU. Motzko has coached at SCSU since the 2005-06 season... The Huskies have outshot their opponents 269-213 this season, and they have scored 30 goals and their opponents have scored 30 goals this season.

TEDDY BEAR TOSS DEC. 10: The annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place at the SCSU men's hockey game against Omaha on Dec. 10. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear or stuffed animal toy to throw onto the ice during the first intermission of the SCSU-Omaha game. All the Teddy Bears and toys collected will be donated to the St. Cloud area Toys for Tots campaign for the area needy.  Let's cover the ice with Teddy Bears on Dec. 10!
OPPONENT NOTES:  CC leads the series against SCSU 49-41-7...head coach Mike Haviland is in his third year as head coach at CC. Haviland was an assistant coach with the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12...SCSU assistant coach Mike Gibbons was an assistant coach at Colorado College from 1988 to 1990...last weekend, CC split a series at Omaha with a 2-1 victory on Nov. 4 and a 6-4 loss on Nov. 5...last year, SCSU was 3-1-0 in games played against CC, including a 5-2 and 9-3 series sweep at CC on March 4-5...Mason Bergh, Alex Beradinelli, Teemu Kivihalme and Trey Bradley all lead CC this winter with six points apiece...Alex Leclerc (5.51 GAA), Jacob Nehama (3.52 GAA) and Derek Shatzer (1.68 GAA) have shared netminding duties for CC this winter...SCSU has scored 38 goals in the last six games played at CC, which averages out to be 6.3 goals per game on the ice at the World Arena since March 7, 2014.
