The St. Cloud State women's hockey team took down #8/9 North Dakota (14-10-5, 11-9-5-3 WCHA)in a 1-0 game. The victory marks the first win at the Ralph Englstad Arena since Jan. 15 of 2010.

The Huskies were ready to play from the drop of the puck and put up eight shots in the first period while UND tallied 9. All shots were denied in the first period by the respected goalies leaving the game up for grabs in the period to follow.

It was SCSU who cashed in a goal in the opening minutes of the second when Brittney Anderson sent a shot from the point to the net and Tylke and Illikainen crashed the net for the rebound. Molly Illikainen netted her 11th goal of the season to put SCSU on top.

Although the Fighting Hawks outshot the Huskies 10-7 in the second and 20-6 in the third, the Huskies held strong defense and blocked 20 total shots in the game.

Senior goaltender Katie Fitzgerald has been a brick wall all season long stopping all 39 shots she was faced with in game. Fitzgerald has played in all WCHA games this season and adds to her successful last season in the cardinal red and black with her second career victory over the UND. Earlier in the season she nabbed a shootout win against the Fighting Hawks.

Of the five goals St. Cloud State has scored against UND this season, four have been from Illikainen. St. Cloud State now improves to 12-14-4 (8-13-4-3 WCHA) on the year and gains a three-point lead on Minnesota Duluth for fifth place in the conference.

North Dakota and St. Cloud State wrap up their regular-season series tomorrow back at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Game time is set for 4:07 p.m. (CT).
