PITTSBURG, Kansas – St. Cloud State junior jumper Patience Yalartai ended up placing 16th nationally in the triple jump at the 2016 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship on March 12 in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Yalartai fouled on her first jump, had an 11.27m/36"11.75" in her second attempt and then fouled again on her third jump.
The winner of the event was Salcra Slack of New Mexico Highlands, who had a leap of 12.88m/42'3.25". Clayton State's Jessica Matthews placed second with her jumpof 12.45m/40'10.25". Finishing in third was Cierra Pulliam of Lewis with her jump of 12.40m/40'8.25"

The SCSU men's and women's outdoor track and field season begins on March 25 with the first day of the Northwest Multi from Maryville, Missouri.
