Prow, Lindgren earn NCHC honors at league banquet on March 17

St. Cloud State University senior defenseman Ethan Prow was a three-time award winner at the 2016 National Collegiate Hockey Conference's Award Banquet on Thursday, March 17, while teammate Charlie Lindgren was named the league's Goalie of the Year.Â
The event was held at the Muse Entertainment and Event Center in downtown Minneapolis, Minn and it kicked off the league's annual Frozen Faceoff tournament weekend on March 18-19 at the Target Center.  Prow was selected as the league's Player of the Year for his play in 2015-16 and he was also selected as the NCHC's Defenseman of the Year and the league's Offensive Defenseman of the Year.  Prow was join at center stage by teammate junior goalie Charlie Lindgren, who was selected as the NCHC's Goalie of the Year for 2015-16. Both Prow and Lindgren were All-NCHC First Team picks this winter for the Huskies.  This marks the first time a SCSU player has earned NCHC Player of the Year, Defenseman of the Year, Offensive Defenseman of the Year and Goalie of the Year. Prow and Lindgren were also both named to the 2015-16 All-NCHC Academic team for the Huskies.  Charlie Lindgren (left) and Coach Bob Motzko Prow is a Hobey Baker Award top 10 finalist in 2016 and serves as a team captain for the Huskies. Prow paces all NCAA DI blueliners with 35 points and 27 assists this winter. He also ranks ninth among all Division I players with an average of 0.79 assists per game this season.  Ethan Prow is also closing in on 100-points during his stellar four-year career with the Huskies. Prow currently has 96 points (19g/77a) at SCSU and ranks second in the team record for most points and most assists by a defenseman. Kelly Hultgren currently leads the SCSU records for defenders with 79 assists and 107 points from 1991-95.  Lindgren backstopped the fourth-ranked Huskies to a second-place finish in the NCHC while leading the conference in wins (28) and earning First Team All-NCHC honors.  A native of Lakeville, Minn., he owns a 28-8-1 overall record and ranks first in the nation in wins, fifth in winning percentage (.770), tied for sixth in shutouts (5) 15th in save percentage (.926) and 18th in goals-against average (2.08).
The junior netminder has played in all but one game this season for the Huskies, allowing two goals or less 25 times. He has stopped 30 or more shots in eight games this season, including a 38-save effort in a 1-1 tie at Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 16. Lindgren has posted a .930 or better save percentage in 17 games this season and is 4-3-1 in one-goal games on the year.  Lindgren already owns the team record for most goalie wins in a season with 28 in 2015-16.
The Huskies will open play at the 2016 NCHC Frozen Faceoff on Friday, March 18 with a 7:38 p.m. game against Denver at the Target Center. Â Tournament play opens earlier in the day with a 4:08 p.m. game between North Dakota and Minnesota Duluth. Â The tournament will conclude on Saturday, March 19 with the consolation game at 3:38 p.m. and the title game at 7:38 p.m. at Target Center in Minneapolis.
