Reese Gregory makes pro baseball debut with River City Rascals

He joins former SCSU standout Mike Jurgella on Rascals' 2016 roster
St. Cloud State University baseball continued its tradition of advancing players to the professional ranks this past weekend as former Husky Reese Gregory made his pro pitching debut with the River City Rascals of the independent Frontier League on May 29 in O'Fallon, Mo.

Gregory pitched 3.2 innings of relief work in a 12-9 loss to the Normal Corn Belters on May 29. Â This was Gregory's first apperance for the Rascals and he charted two strikeouts in the game. Â His battery mate was former SCSU catcher Mike Jurgella, who is also in his first season of play with the River City Rascals.
Gregory recently completed his senior season at SCSU in 2016 and was a four-time All-American for the Huskies during his sterling collegiate career. Â He is the 10th player to move on to the professional ranks during the Pat Dolan era at St. Cloud State.
Jurgella played pro baseball in 2015 with the Evansvile Otters of the Frontier League and signed for the 2016 season with River City. Â In nine games played this season, Jurgella has a .346 batting average, nine hits, two home runs and seven RBIs.
