Volleyball Hosts Three Matches This Week

Huskies Play Home Matches Against No. 9 Minnesota Duluth, RV Sioux Falls and No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State
St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State volleyball team (15-10, 7-8 NSIC) plays a tough slate of matches this week with home contests against three ranked / receiving votes NSIC opponents. The program begins the week with a 6 p.m. contest against No. 9 Minnesota Duluth (19-4, 12-3 NSIC) on Oct. 31 at Halenbeck Hall. SCSU then has a pair of weekend contests to close out the 2017 home campaign. SCSU takes on RV Sioux Falls (13-7, 8-7 NSIC) on Friday night, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. The program then hosts No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State (21-2, 13-2 NSIC) on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m.
Each of the matches this week also has a theme associated with it. On Tuesday, there will be a Halloween Costume Contest so all fans are encouraged to dress up for a chance to win a prize, on Friday it will be Family/Parents Night and on Saturday it will be Senior Day for the team's three seniors (S – Kayla Crane, OH/RS – Nicole Miller and RS – Becca Gruber).

- Megan Hamstad leads the team with her 656 assists (9.11 per set) plus 15 service aces.

- St Cloud State fell by a 3-1 count to Sioux Falls on the road earlier this season.
- The Huskies trail the all-time series with Sioux Falls 5-2 since the schools began meeting in 2012.
- No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State split the team's two weekend matches with a 3-0 victory over Minnesota State and a 3-1 loss to currently No. 1 ranked Concordia-St. Paul.

- St. Cloud State went 1-1 on the week with a three-set loss to then No. 9 and current No. 7 ranked Northern State and 3-1 victory over Minnesota Moorhead on the road.
- The team's 15 wins this season are the most for the program since the 2004 season and only the third time since 1998 that the program has won 15 or more matches.
- Senior Becca Gruber led the team with her 17 kills (2.43 per set) on the week.
- Gruber also hit .341 in the seven sets.
- Freshman Maddy Torve totaled 40 assists to lead the team.
- Sophomore Clara Krenz recorded 39 digs (5.57 per set).
- Krenz continued to move up the school's single season and career digs lists over the weekend.
- She now has 522 digs this season and that is the fourth-most in school history and only 35 from reaching Brianne Stamer's 557 (2015) for third place.
- Krenz is 156 digs from reaching the top spot which is held by Andreanna Pieper (2007) who had 678.
- Krenz also reached the top 10 in career digs at St. Cloud State and has 969 in her career.
- She moved past Shannon Klink and is 52 from reaching seventh place held by Melissa Wright (1997-00) who had 1,021.
- Krenz comes into the week leading the NSIC in both digs (522) and digs per game (5.93).
- She is also 15th in the league with 28 service aces.
- Senior Kayla Crane is 15th in the league with her average of 5.63 assists per set.
- Senior Nicole Miller is 14th in service aces per set (0.32).
- Sophomore Marah Mulso is 17th in the NSIC with her 0.80 blocks per set.
- In the NSIC team rankings, SCSU is second in team attacks per set (38.34), digs per set (17.26) and total attacks (3,413), third in service aces (132) and total digs (1,537), sixth in kills (1,132) and assists (1,057) plus seventh in aces per set (1.48).

- St. Cloud State finishes out the 2017 regular season on the road with matches against No. 22 Wayne State College on Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. and against No. 16 Augustana on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
