The St. Cloud State University men's and women's swimming and diving team will be on the road this week for the University of South Dakota Tri-Duals, which will be held on Nov. 3-4 in Sioux Falls, S.D. The meet will include match-ups against NCAA Division I rivals South Dakota and South Dakota State.
SCSU SWIM AND DIVE HEADLINES:
The Huskies recently competed in the Carleton College Cows, Colleges and Contentment Classic on Oct. 28 in Northfield, Minn. The Huskies combined for 17 first place finishes at the meet, which featured competitors from Carleton, St. Olaf, UW-La Crosse, and St. Cloud State.
Jennifer Thompson
One of the SCSU notables at Carleton was Jennifer Thompson, who scored first place finishes in the 100 and 200 freestyle events along with swimming legs in SCSU's winning 200 medley and 200 free relays.
Andrea Bryson nabbed top places in the 50 free and 100 fly at Carleton along with joining Thompson on SCSU's winning relay teams.
In the men's 1M diving event, David Sufficool won top honors and teammate Scott Stellick won first in the 3M event at Carleton.
SCSU's men's 200 medley and men's 200 freestyle relay gained first place finishes at the Carleton meet. Anthony Schwartz (100 Back), Rob Leigh (200 Fly), Connor Deitrich (100 Breaststroke) and Brian Burke (100 Fly) also brought home first place finishes from the meet.
Looking ahead, SCSU will compete at the University of St. Thomas Invitational on Nov. 10-11 in St. Paul, Minn.
The SCSU women's swim and dive team was ranked 25th in the latest CSCAA Division II national rankings.
In the CollegeSwimming.com DII national polls this week, SCSU men were ranked 33rd and the women's team was ranked 32nd.
Of note, the 2018 NSIC women's championships will be held this season on Feb. 14-17, 2018 in Fargo, N.D. The men's 2018 NSISC championships will be held on Feb. 21-24 in Cleveland, Miss.
