What it was like to play for: Coach Lorsung or Coach Dolan? I had the privilege to play my under Coach (Denny) Lorsung and my senior year under Coach (Pat) Dolan. Playing for the Huskies was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was there for Coach Dolan's interview and knew he was the perfect fit. From day one, the atmosphere around the team was flipped on it's head. His coaching/leadership style gave us confidence to become successful in the classroom and on the field. The thing I will forever be grateful for is the friendships and relationships I formed with some of my best friends. I couldn't be happier that I got the opportunity to wear the red and black.
A most memorable experience/funny story/etc…from Huskyland! So many come to mind, but two stick out more than others (and I likely need to keep it kid friendly). We were in downtown Denver for a series with Metro State. We were getting ready to hit in the second game of the DH, so naturally, I was putting my helmet and batting gloves on and preparing for my upcoming at bat. I was pretty excited/nervous as this was to be my first start of the young season and we had just dropped game one. Then, out of nowhere, I was told that I just got ejected from the game...no joke. Apparently one of our guys (thanks Reid) gave the home plate umpire some constructive criticism that he didn't appreciate...so he turned to our dugout and tossed the first guy he saw...unfortunately #12 was the first number he saw. I spent the next 30 minutes of my life walking with the bus driver to the bus in downtown Denver with my equipment bag.
The following day, we're up 3 runs in game two, Pat DeLaHunt (freshman at the time) strolls to the mound and gives up a walk off grand slam that, I swear, put a hole in the Pepsi Center roof (roughly 700 feet from home plate). To be fair, that same guy had three grand slams the series.
