The Huskies led the game for over 37 minutes and held a 37-33 halftime lead. The program was outscored 49-43 in the second half. The team's largest lead was 12 points with 5:13 remaining in the first half on an Averkamp layup to put the team up 31-19.
The Beavers took the lead for good on an Akibo made jumper at the 2:00 mark, 79-77. The team was down by five points, 82-77, with 16 seconds remaining when Foley was fouled on a three-point attempt. He made all three of his foul shots to get the team to within two, 82-80. The team then forced a turnover to get the ball back with 12 seconds remaining. The ensuing three-point attempt was missed. Randolph was then fouled for Minot State and missed both of his free throws. The Huskies picked up the rebound and called time out to set up a last second attempt. The three-point shot by the team was no good to allow MSU to escape with the 82-80 victory.
