St. Cloud State to host a pair of exhibition matches at Husky Stadium
ST. CLOUD—The St. Cloud State soccer team wraps up its preseason slate with a pair of home exhibition matches this week. The Huskies host Augsburg College on Thursday, August 24 at 7 p.m. and the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday, August 26 at 7 p.m.
Both matches are free to the public and SCSU student with a valid university ID.
The Huskies opened their preseason with a 1-0 road exhibition win over Wisconsin-Green Bay last Friday. Sophomore forward Hannah Marion supplied the heroics, notching the game's lone goal in the 52nd minute. Senior goalkeeper Leah Schmidt and sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Christian combined to keep the clean sheet, turning away two and five shots, respectively.
Saturday night's tune-up against the Blazers will mark the second-straight year SCSU and CSB have met in exhibition action. The Huskies triumphed, 1-0, last season at Husky Stadium.
St. Cloud State opens its regular season at home on Friday, September 1 against Northern Michigan. The Huskies are seeking their third-straight trip to the NSIC Tournament in 2017 after placing sixth in the always-competitive league last season and fifth in 2015.
