
St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer Runs Past UW-Parkside with Offensive Outburst

Huskies score five goals with two coming from Spaine, three assists from Quam
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (2-0-1, 0-0-0 NSIC) found the back of the net five times in its home opener and nonconference finals, winning 5-0 over UW-Parkside (0-2-1, 0-0-0 GLIAC) on Friday night at Husky Stadium. Junior defender Ana Spaine (West Des Moines, Iowa) scored twice while senior midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.) recorded three assists.
Before the game, SCSU honored its three seniors – senior defender Ella Clow (Minneapolis, Minn.), senior forward Ellie Primerano (Saint Jospeh, Mich.) and Quam – for Senior Night.
TURNING POINT
SCSU scored just 9:34 into the game on a corner kick when Quam's corner kick set piece made it through the box and right to Spaine, who headed it in for the first of five Husky goals. The momentum was well in SCSU's favor, and the Huskies would then tack on first half goals in the 33rd and 44th minutes. Junior midfielder Cady Compton (Ankeny, Iowa) scored the Huskies' second goal on a pass-up from Quam, while sophomore midfielder Darby Allen (Minnetonka, Minn.) scored the third goal on a header after a free kick pass from junior defender Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa).
In the second half, SCSU got goals from Spaine in the 51st minute and from junior forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) in the 61st minute.

NOTES
- With the win, SCSU improves to 2-5-0 all-time against UW-Parkside.
- The Huskies' five goals are the most in a game since a 6-0 win over Minnesota Crookston on Nov. 2, 2023, and the most in a nonconference game since a 7-0 win over Minnesota Crookston on Sept. 14, 2008.
- Quam's three assists matches a career-high from her three assists against UMC on Nov. 2, 2023. She becomes just the second Husky in program history to have multiple games with three or more assists, joining Kim Corbin who did it four times.
- Quam's three assists give her 18 career assists, moving her to third place all-time in program history. Her 28 career points now ranks 21st all-time in program history.
- Spaine recorded her first career two-goal game and doubled her career goal total from two to four.
- Trapino scored her 13th career goal, while Allen scored her fourth career goal and Compton scored her second career goal.
- Redshirt sophomore Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) made one save in 63 minutes and extended her shutout streak to 167 minutes.
- Olson recorded her sixth career assist while sophomore forward Gabby Hofeld (St. Paul, Minn.) recorded her fourth career assist.
- Freshman goalkeeper Zoe Fujino (Palatine, Ill.) made her collegiate debut with 26 minutes in net with one save.
