St. Cloud State soccer gains 2-1 victory at Northern State

The St. Cloud State University soccer team (3-4, 1-3 NSIC) returned to the win column on Friday, Sept. 22 with a 2-1 victory at Northern State University (3-3, 2-2 NSIC) in Aberdeen, S.D.
The Huskies relied on a pair of first half goals to score the win, which snapped a four-game losing streak. Hannah Marion opened the scoring at 6:22 with a goal that was assisted by Kate Murphy. This was Marion's second goal of the season and it was Murphy's first collegiate point at SCSU.
The eventual game winner was then tallied by SCSU's Tatyana Gusakow at 13:44. The unassisted goal made it 2-0 and it was Gusakow's first goal as a Husky. The Wolves closed the gap in the second half with a goal at 53:35 by Mallory Schoenard.
SCSU outshot NSU in the contest 28-14, with Murphy leading the way with seven shots for the Huskies. In the nets, Kelsey Christian had two saves and was credited with the goalkeeper victory.
The Huskies will complete their NSIC weekend on Sunday, Sept. 24 with a 1 p.m. home match against Minnesota State, Moorhead. The game will be played at Husky Stadium. Tickets for the contest are available at the gate and all SCSU students get into the game for FREE.
