#1 St. Cloud State wrestling returns to NSIC schedule on Jan. 19-20

The #1 St. Cloud State University wrestling team (12-0, 1-0 NSIC) will return to action in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a pair of matches in North Dakota this weekend. Â On Friday, Jan. 19, the Huskies will travel to Minot State University (2-6, 0-2 NSIC) for a 7 p.m. dual match in Minot, N.D.
The Huskies will finish the trip with a 2 p.m. match on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the University of Mary (4-4, 1-1 NSIC). Â Fans can follow all the action from the road at the links listed below:

- The Huskies were ranked #1 in the nation in the latest NCAA DII national poll.
- Larry Bomstad is ranked #1 in the nation at 157-pounds and he owns a perfect 19-0 record this season for the Huskies. Â He also has five falls to his credit this winter.
- The Huskies continued their winning ways with a pair of wins at the Ranger Duals on Jan. 13 in Kenosha, Wisc. Â SCSU posted a 29-9 win over #5 McKendree and a 38-7 win over #16 Findlay. Â SCSU has now won 21 consecutive dual matches dating back to a loss to Indianapolis at the Ranger Duals in 2016-17.
- SCSU is the six-time defending NSICÂ champion and the Huskies have not lost a dual match in league competition since an 18-13 loss to Augustana on Jan. 27, 2011.
- #2 Bret Velasquez owns a 16-2 record at 125-pounds for the Huskies. Â His brother Josh Velasquez has joined the SCSUÂ roster now with a 2-2 record at 141-pounds.
- Other SCSU wrestlers ranked in the latest NCAA DII poll are #4 Jarred Oftedahl at 141-pounds (18-2 with 7 falls), #5 James Pleski at 149-pounds (16-1); #8 Travis Holt at 165-pounds (17-2, 7 falls); #7 Kolton Eischens at 174-pounds (23-2, 9 falls); #9 Vince Dietz (21-1, 8 falls) and #10 Lawrence Phillips at 285-pounds (19-3, 10 falls).
- Kolton Eischens was named the NSIC Wrestler of the Week after his pair of victories at the Ranger Duals on Jan. 13.
- SCSU will host the 2018 NCAA Division II Super 3 Regional on Feb. 23-24 in Halenbeck Hall.

- SCSU coach Steve Costanzo is in his 12th season with the Huskies.  He is 181-28 during his tenure at SCSU.
