Men’s Basketball Returns Home To Take on Bemidji State And Minnesota Crookston This Weekend

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State men's basketball team (9-4, 5-2 NSIC) returns home to Halenbeck Hall to host a pair of NSIC opponents this weekend. The program takes on Bemidji State (6-7, 3-5 NSIC) on Friday, Jan. 5, at 8 p.m. and Minnesota Crookston (8-6, 5-3 NSIC) on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m.
There will also be several promotions this weekend at the games. On Friday, it will be $1 hot dog night at the concession stand. On Saturday, the contest will be Camper Appreciation and Youth Night where all youth up to a senior in high school can get in the game for free with a paid adult. The game will also be another $1 hot dog night at the concession stand.

Scouting Bemidji State
- Bemidji State split the team's two games last weekend at home.
- The program fell to Upper Iowa by an 84-75 score on Dec. 30 and defeated Winona State 62-59 on Dec. 31.
- The program enters the weekend just one victory away from 1,000 career program victories.
- BSU has lost four of the team's last six games.
- Sharif Black leads the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game.
- He is shooting 45 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 76.4 percent from the free throw line.
- Black is also second on the team in assists (29), steals (12) and rebounds (65).
- Ja'Vionne Green is getting 13.5 points per game, while shooting 40 percent from the field, 30.9 percent from three-point range and 72.2 percent from the free throw line.
- Logan Bader is the third member of the squad that is averaging in double figures at 10.5 points per game.
- Bader also leads the team in rebounding (68 / 5.2 per game) and blocks (10).
- Christian Pekarek leads the squad in assists (52) and steals (16).
- The Beavers are averaging 71.5 points per game, while shooting 45.1 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from three-point range and 73.2 percent from the free throw line.
Scouting Minnesota Crookston
- Minnesota Crookston won both games over the weekend with a 73-56 victory over Winona State on Dec. 30 and a 98-79 win over Upper Iowa on Dec. 31.
- The program is off to its best start in school history as a Division II program.
- UMC has won three straight games entering the weekend and will take on Minnesota Duluth on Friday night before coming to St. Cloud.
- Minnesota Crookston has scored 80 or more points in six contests this season.
- Harrison Cleary leads the team and the conference in scoring at 24.3 points per game.
- Cleary is shooting 46.9 percent from the field, 49.3 percent from three-point range and 97.1 percent from the free throw line
- He is also averaging 5.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
- Alan Hodge sports an average of 16.9 points per game, while shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 45.7 percent from beyond the arc and 70.7 from the line.
- Chase Knickerbocker gets 11.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 44.3 percent from three-point range and 72.7 from the line.
- Gable Smith is the leading shot blocker in the league at 57 blocks and with his average of 4.07 blocks per game.
- Smith also leads the team in rebounding at 6.8 per game and averages 8.1 points a contest.
- He leads the team in steals (23) and is shooting 64.9 percent from the field.
- The Golden Eagles average 81.5 points per game, while shooting 48.1 percent from the field, 43.4 percent from three-point range and 77.1 percent from the free throw line.
- The 43.4. percent shooting from beyond the arc is the best in the conference.
- UMC also gets 5.9 blocks per game to lead the league and are tied for the nationally lead with 82 blocks as a team.

- The program ran away from the Beavers earlier this season in winning by a 96-62 margin (12/2/17).

- The Huskies split the team's two road games last weekend.
- The program held the lead for much of the game against Minot State before seeing the Beavers hit a three with two minutes left to take the lead for good in an 82-80 loss on Dec. 30.
