The #4/6 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (15-6-3, 9-4-1 NCHC) will be back home this weekend for games at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center against the #13 Omaha Mavericks (14-11-1, 7-9-0 NCHC). The game on Friday, Feb. 2 will begin at 7:37 p.m. and the game on Saturday, Feb. 3 is scheduled to begin at 7:07 p.m. Tickets for both of these key NCHC matches are available at www.scsutickets.com or by calling 1-877-SCSUTIX.

JERSEY NIGHT IS FEB. 2: The SCSU game vs. Omaha on Friday, Feb. 2 has been designated as Jersey Night at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. IN THE POLLS: The Huskies received a #4 ranking in the USA TODAY/USA Hockey Division I poll this week. SCSU also gained a #6 ranking in the USCHO.com poll this week...St. Cloud State was picked as the #2 team in the 2017-18 preseason NCHC poll. Of note, the Huskies received votes in the final USCHO.com poll of 2016-17. Omaha is ranked #13 in both polls this week.

OLYMPIC DREAMS: The USA men's hockey team will feature two SCSU Huskies at the Winter Olympic Games in 2018. Current SCSU blueliner Will Borgen has been selected to the team along with former Husky forward Garrett Roe. Borgen and Roe will join a list of 15 Huskies who have competed in the Olympics. Other former SCSU hockey players to play for Team USA include Bret Hedican (1992 and 2006), Ryan Malone (2010), Mark Parrish (2006), Matt Cullen (2006) and Andreas Nodl (2014). Of note, former Husky hockey player Rikard Gronberg will serve as head coach for Team Sweden at the 2018 Winter Games. Roe played for SCSU from 2007-11 and ranks first in the team records with 113 assists and third with 178 points (65g/113a). He is currently playing professional hockey in Switzerland this winter. Borgen has 1g/7a for the Huskies this season. Borgen is slated to depart for the games on Feb. 7.
THE WEEKEND UPDATE: The Huskies battled another top 20 ranked opponent last weekend and came away with a weekend split at Minnesota Duluth. SCSU charted a 5-1 loss on Jan. 26 and then rallied with a 2-1 win at Amsoil on Jan. 27. The lone goal in the loss for SCSU was scored by Ryan Poehling in the third period. SCSU outshot the Bulldogs 25-18 in the contest and only allowed five shots on target in the third period. SCSU was 0-3 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill in the game...on Jan. 27, the Huskies trailed 1-0 in the first before a goal by Jake Wahlin at 10:00 tied the contest. In a defensive battle, the Huskies finally posted the game winner with a marker by Patrick Newell at 14:50 of the third period. Blake Winiecki and Jon Lizotte had assists on the play. David Hrenak had 19 saves and the win for the Huskies as they outshot the Bulldogs 28-20. SCSU was 1-1 on the penalty kill and 0-5 on the power play.
100-POINTS IN RANGE: Mikey Eyssimont needs 13 more points to join SCSU's 100-point club. He currently has 37g/50a during his career with the Huskies.
100 GAMES: Mikey Eyssimont's next game played will be his 100th as a Husky.
ONLY AT SCSU: St. Cloud State is the lone NCAA school in the nation with an active men's hockey player and an active women's hockey player playing hockey at the upcoming Winter Olympics. Will Borgen will play for Team USA and SCSU goalie Janine Alder will be joining the Swiss women's hockey team at the upcoming Winter Games.

MULTI-POINTS: SCSU's Blake Winiecki had two assists in the Huskies' 2-1 victory at UMD on Jan. 27. This marks the third time this season that Winiecki has chalked up a multi-point game for the Huskies.
GOAL TALLY: Patrick Newell's goal on Jan. 27 was his third of the 2017-18 season, and it was his 14th career goal at SCSU. Jake Wahlin now has four goals this season and 10 goals in his two seasons at SCSU.
TOP DOGS: Robby Jackson paces the Huskies this season with 25 points and 10 goals...Jimmy Schuldt leads SCSU with 17 assists and a +14...Schuldt also ranks among the nation's top blueliners with 56 blocked shots in 2017-18...David Hrenak leads SCSU's netminders with a .927 save percentage and a 2.04 GAA.
NATIONAL SCENE: The Huskies are ranked #4 in the nation in scoring at 3.67 goals per game. This week's opponent Omaha is ranked #3 in the nation in scoring at 3.69 goals per game. On defense, SCSU ranks 16th in the nation at 2.54 goals allowed per game, while Omaha ranks 60th on defense at 3.85 goals allowed per game this season...Jimmy Schuldt still ranks 2nd in the nation among DI blueliners with a scoring rate of .96 ppg...David Hrenak ranks 8th in the nation with a 2.04 GAA and 7th with a .927 save rate.

This group includes three players (Jackson, Eyssimont and Schuldt) with 20 or more points scored this season...a total of eight SCSU players have scored 6-or-more goals this season...Mikey Eyssimont's 87 career points, places him 39th on the all-time DI scoring list in a tie with Taj Melson, who had 87 career points from 1992-96...Jimmy Schuldt ranks ninth in the team records for most career points scored by a defenseman. He has 68 career points in three years at SCSU, which ties him for ninth along with Derek Eastman (1999-03). Kelly Hultgren is SCSU's all-time leading blueliner with 107 career points from 1991-95.
