#2 SCSU Men's Hockey back home for weekend series against Bemidji State

The #2 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (9-1-0, 4-0-0 NCHC) will resume its longtime series against non-conference rival Bemidji State University (5-2-1, 3-1-0 WCHA) on Nov. 16-17 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.  The game on Nov. 16 will begin at 7:07 p.m. and the game on Nov. 17 will start at 6:07 p.m. Tickets for both games are available at scsutickets.com or by calling 1-877-SCSUTIX. 
The Huskies own a 47-45-5 series lead, which dates back to a 14-2 win by the Huskies over BSU during the 1947-48 season.  At the NCAA DI level, St. Cloud State owns a 20-4-2 series lead against BSU since 1987-88.

IN THE POLLS: The Huskies received a #2 ranking in the USA TODAY/USA Hockey weekly poll. In the USCHO.com poll this week, the Huskies earned a #2 ranking.
ANOTHER SWEEP FOR SCSU: The Huskies earned their fourth series sweep of the season with a pair of 4-3 victories over #5 Denver on Nov. 9-10 at the HBNHC. On Nov. 9, Nolan Walker had two goals and one assist to lead SCSU. Jimmy Schuldt posted the GWG on a PPG at 17:50 of the second period as the Huskies rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the 2nd with three unanswered goals to win the game. SCSU outshot the Pios 39-24 in the game as David Hrenak charted the win between the pipes for SCSU...on Nov. 10, SCSU also trailed 2-0 in the first period and 2-1 in the second period before they rallied once more to collect the 4-3 victory. Nick Perbix, Blake Lizotte and Easton Brodzinski scored goals in the game and Kevin Fitzgerald scored the GWG at 9:07 of the third to win the game. Hrenak made 15 saves to gain the win for SCSU, which outshot Denver 41-18 in the game.
SKATE WITH THE HUSKIES: The always popular Skate with the Huskies have been scheduled for after the games on Dec. 8 and Feb. 2 on the main rink of the HBNHC. Fans will have a chance to skate on the Huskies' home ice with players from both the men's and women's hockey teams at SCSU. Senior CLASS Award: Senior defender Jimmy Schuldt has been selected as a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award. This elite award honors senior student-athlete who have made notable achievements in the areas of excellence, community, classroom, character and competition. CLOSING IN: Senior Robby Jackson is moving closer to the SCSU 100-point Club. He scored three assists this weekend vs. Denver and now has 93 career points as a Husky (35g/58a). He also leads the team this season in scoring with 12 points (2g/10a). He is joined on the SCSU point leaderboard by Patrick Newell (7g/5a), Nolan Walker (5g/7a), Ryan Poehling (3g/9a) and Jack Ahcan (1g/11a)...senior captain Jimmy Schuldt is also moving closer to membership in the elite 100-point club. Thanks to his 1g/2a weekend vs. Denver, Schuldt now has 93 career points (30g/63a) as a Husky.
SCHULDT FACTS: On the topic of Jimmy Schuldt's point production, he now ranks third on SCSU's all-time point list for defenseman with 93 points. He moved ahead of Andrew Prochno, a fellow Minnetonka H.S. grad, who had 91 points from 2011-15. Ahead of Schuldt is fellow Hobey Baker Top 10 finalist Ethan Prow, who had 99 points from 2012-16 and Kelly Hultgren, who had 107 points from 1995-98.
TOP OF THE CHARTS: Jack Ahcan ranks third in the nation with 11 assists this season...Patrick Newell is tied for the nation's game winning goal lead with four in 2018-19...Ahcan ranks third in the nation among DI blueliners with 12 points scored...Nolan Walker leads all NCAA DI rookies with 12 points this winter...with a perfect 7-0-0 record, David Hrenak leads the nation in winning percentage at 1.000...SCSU ranks 2nd in the nation with a scoring rate of 4.20 goals per game...on defense, SCSU ranks fourth in the country with 1.80 goals allowed per game...SCSU ranks 8th in the nation on the PP at 25.6% and second on the penalty kill at 90.7%...the Huskies also own the nation's top winning percentage this season at 90.0 percent (9-1-0).
FAST START: At 9-1-0, the Huskies are off to their best start since opening the 2013-14 season with a 10-1-1 start. Last year, SCSU started the season with a 7-0-0 record...on the topic of top 10-game starts for the Huskies, in 2003-04, SCSU started with an 8-1-1 record and in 2001-02, SCSU opened with a 9-1-0 record.
FIRST ONE: Rookie Nick Perbix scored his first collegiate goal on Nov. 10 vs. Denver. He is a Tampa Bay draft pick and a resident of Elk River. He is one of 16 residents of Minnesota on this year's SCSU roster.
UP NEXT: The Huskies will enjoy their first bye week of the season on Nov. 23-24. SCSU will return to action on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 with a pair of road games at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
