Huskies Defeat Wolves 76-64 Behind Wortz' 25 Point Effort

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team (11-6, 8-6 NSIC) defeated Northern State 76-64 on Friday, Jan. 25th at Halenbeck Hall.
The Huskies improve to 7-1 at home on the season behind a 25 point effort from Tori Wortz. Katrina Theis also contributed 12 points and five rebounds while Madelin Dammann delivered nine points after shooting 4-4 from the field. Caitlyn Peterson recorded a career high of six rebounds against the Wolves.
As a team, the Huskies shot 52.8 percent (28-53) from the field, 50 percent (12-24) from three, and 53.3 percent (8-15) at the free throw line. SCSU was able to record 16 points off of NSU turnovers while also scoring 26 points in the paint.
St. Cloud State out-scored the Wolves 19-9 in the first quarter to take an early lead, then maintained a ten point lead at the half. NSU would claim their only lead in the third quarter and out-score SCSU 19-15, however the Huskies would not allow Northern State to come within five points in the final quarter of regulation.
The Huskies will return to Halenbeck Hall to host the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons at 3:30 on Saturday, January 26th.
