SCSU swim and dive charts big victory over DI rival South Dakota

The St. Cloud State men's and women's swim and dive teams finished competition at the MSU Moorhead Penta Dual meet in West Fargo, N.D. on Saturday, Oct. 19. The day was highlighted by a victory for the SCSU women's team over NCAA Division I opponent the University of South Dakota in dual meet action.
In the dual team scores, the SCSU women's team collected its major victory over DI rival South Dakota by a score of 152.00-90.00. SCSU also gained a 194.00-42.00 win over Northern State and also posted a 160.00-82.00 win over Minnesota State Moorhead. The SCSU women's team lost a 158.00-84.00 decision against Northern Michigan.
In the men's competition on Oct. 19, SCSU lost 129.00-112.00 to South Dakota and also lost 152.50-87.50 to Northern Michigan.
To open the weekend at the MSU Moorhead Penta Duals on Friday, Oct. 18, the SCSU women's team scored a 173.00-45.00 win over Northern State and a 160.00-64.00 win over 160.00-64.00 win over MSUM. In action against South Dakota on Oct. 18, the Huskies lost 127.00-97.00 and also lost 132.50-91.50 to NMU.
In the men's competition on Oct. 18, SCSU posted a 151.00-71.00 loss to South Dakota and also lost 136.00-84.00 to Northern Michigan.
First place finishes on Oct. 19 were charted by Sam Artz in the men's 100 butterfly at 51.83 and Chelsea Gerhke won the women's 100 freestyle with a top time of 52.55. SCSU's Mady Brinkman also gained a first place finish for the Huskies in the women's 3M diving event with a score of 248.55.
In the women's 400 medley relay on Oct. 19, SCSU placed third with a time of 3:59.55. The team was comprised of Marena Kouba, Alexis Burroughs, Olivia Travis and Christine Ware. The men's 400 medley relay also placed third with a time of 3:31.24 behind the work of Kevin Guenter, Jayden Porter, Sam Artz and Abe Townley.
In the women's 1650 free, SCSU's Andrea Rodriguez-Arzola placed third with a time of 18:12.03, and David Clossey placed second for SCSU in the men's 1650 free with a time of 16:55.17. In the women's 200 free, Gerhke added to her solid weekend with a second place finish at 1:54.43. In the men's 200 free, Matheus Laperriere also placed second at the meet with a time of 1:42.61.
Burroughs placed third in the women's 50 free at 24.35, which was followed by a fourth place finish in the same event by Kasey Milstroh at 24.42. In the men's 50 free, Townley placed second at 21.14.
In the women's 400 IM, SCSU's Rosalind Pang placed fifth with a time of 4:43.56, and Andres Hernandez placed third in the men's 400 IM at 4:15.95. In the women's 100 fly, Milstroh placed fourth at 58.79 and Weis followed Artz' top place in the men's 100 fly with a third place time of 52.50.
Kouba added a third place finish in the women's 100 backstroke with a time of 58.59, and Guenter placed third in the men's 100 back at 53.59. In the men's 500 free, Laperriere placed second at 4:47.50. In the women's 100 breaststroke, Burroughs placed third at 1:06.31, and Jayden Porter placed second in the men's 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.89.
In the women's 400 free relay, SCSU's foursome of Pang, Milstroh, Gehrke and Ashton Hobza placed second at 3:34.27. In the men's 400 free relay, SCSU team of Joel Huth, Laperriere, Townley and Artz placed third at 3:09.27.
In the diving events, SCSU's Brinkman added to her top place in the 3M event with a fifth place finish in the 1M diving at 221.40. Evan Infante placed third for the Huskies in the men's 1M diving event with a score of 221.80 and he also placed sixth in the 3M event at 205.90.
