The #16 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (1-1-2, 0-0-0 NCHC) will remain home this weekend with a pair of non-conference games at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on Nov. 1-2 against ECAC Hockey/Ivy League opponent Princeton University (0-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC).  The game on Nov. 1 will start at 7:37 p.m. and the game on Nov. 2 will begin at 6:07 p.m.  For complete details on tickets for these games vs. the Tigers, please visit www.scsutickets.com or call 1-877-SCSUTIX. Â

 BUSY FRIDAY NIGHT:  Fans attending the SCSU-Princeton game on Friday, Nov. 1 should plan to arrive early as the athletic facilities will be busy with high school playoff football games taking place in Husky Stadium and the SCSU wrestling intrasquad meet taking place in Halenbeck Hall on Nov. 1.  SCSU hockey fans can still park in K-Lot south the rink, but you should expect traffic to be heavier than usual due to the multiple events taking place at the same time on the south end of campus.

 IN THE POLLS:  The Huskies received a #16 ranking in the USCHO.com weekly poll. In the USA TODAY/USA Hockey poll this week, the Huskies received votes. Â
 NCHC CHAMPS:  The Huskies claimed the 2018-19 NCHC championship with a 5-0 win at Omaha on Feb. 23. This marks the third time the Huskies have won the Penrose Cup, which is the most of any team in the NCHC. SCSU also won the NCHC regular season title in 2014, 2018 and 2019.
 WEEKEND SPLIT:  The Huskies opened their 2019-20 regular season home schedule with a 4-1 loss and a 2-1 win over #10 Northeastern on Oct. 25-26 at the HBNHC. In the loss to NU on Oct. 25, the Huskies' lone goal was posted by Sam Hentges in the second period with assists from Jami Krannila and Clark Kuster. In the contest, NU outshot the Huskies 34-20. This marked the first home loss for SCSU since a 3-2 setback against Miami in the first round of the NCHC playoffs on Mar. 10, 2018. The loss snapped a 19-game home unbeaten streak for the Huskies. The home losing streak was short-lived as SCSU bounced back on Oct. 26 with a 2-1 victory over #10 NU. Jack Poehling scored first for SCSU in the 2nd period and then Hentges added the game winner at 8:37 of the 2nd to give SCSU the win. David Hrenak made 17 saves in the victory, which saw SCSU outshoot NU by a 33-18 margin. SCSU is now 2-2-0 in the all-time series vs. Northeastern dating back to 2000-01.Â
 FIRST POINTS AT SCSU:  Freshman forward Jami Krannila (Nokia, Finland) scored his first collegiate point with his assist on Sam Hentges' goal on Oct. 25. He was joined in the first point club over the weekend by rookie forward Chase Brand (Nevis, Minn./Park Rapids H.S.), who provided the first assist on Hentges' game winning goal in the Huskies' 2-1 victory over NU on Oct. 26. On the topic of first assists, Easton Brodzinski added his first two assists of the season on Oct. 26 with helpers on the goals by Hentges and Jack Poehling. Clark Kuster also gained his first assist of the year on Oct. 25 for the Huskies.Â
 POEHLNG POINT: Senior Jack Poehling posted his first goal of the 2019-20 campaign on Oct. 26, which was also his 22nd career goal at SCSU. Â
 AHCAN NOTES: Jack Ahcan currently ranks fifth in the team record for most career assists by a defenseman with 64. He also has 79 career points, which places him ninth on the Huskies' career scoring list for defensemen. He is two ahead of former SCSU standout and longtime NHL player Bret Hedican, who had 77 points during his career at SCSU. Ahcan scored his 15th career goal and first SHG vs. BSU on Oct. 11.
 DID YOU KNOW:  David Hrenak owns a very solid 92.0 percent save rate this season, which includes 115 saves made in four games played for the Huskies. He is 1-1-2 with a 2.41 GAA and his career numbers include a 38-13-6 record, a 91.3% save rate and a 2.17 career GAA...SCSU is 8-of-9 on the penalty kill in 2019-20...Jack Poehling paces SCSU on the plus/minus at +4. He also leads the team in shots with 16 shots on target, while brother Nick Poehling has 11 shots and Kevin Fitzgerald has 11 shots in 2019-20.
 PRINCETON NOTEBOOK: This weekend marks the second time that SCSU and Princeton have met to play games at the HBNHC. In the first meetings between these two teams in the Granite City, SCSU scored a 2-1 OT win on Oct. 31, 2003 and then followed that with a 3-1 win on Nov. 1, 2003...the last time these two teams played each other, SCSU and Princeton skated to a pair of tie games with a 2-2 OT decision on Dec. 29, 2017 and a 3-3 OT game on Dec. 30, 2017 at the Hobey Baker Rink in Princeton, N.J...in the all-time series, SCSU owns a 3-1-2 lead against Princeton, which dates back to the first meeting between these two teams on Dec. 2, 1987 (a 4-3 loss for the Huskies at Princeton). The Huskies have not lost a game vs. Princeton since that loss in the first game of the series...the last time SCSU played at Princeton, Easton Brodzinski scored an unassisted goal and Jack Poehling and Nick Poehling both had assists in the weekend series.
 ON A ROLL:  Sophomore Sam Hentges has scored a point in every game played this season for the Huskies. He also brings a two-game goal scoring streak into the weekend's game vs. Princeton. He currently paces SCSU this winter with three goals, three assists and six points.

 OPPONENT NOTES: Ron Fogarty is in his 13th season at Princeton as the head coach...last year, Princeton was 10-18-3 overall and 8-12-2 in ECAC play...the last time SCSU and Princeton played at the HBNHC, the Huskies gained a 2-1 and 3-1 weekend sweep in 2003-04...SCSU has not lost a game vs. Princeton since a 4-3 loss on Dec. 2, 1987 - the first season that the Huskies skated as an NCAA DI affiliate... the last time SCSU played at Princeton, the Huskies and Tigers skated to a pair of tie games 2-2 and 3-3- in 2017-18...these will be the first games of the season for Princeton in 2019-20...Jackson Cressey is Princeton's top returning scorer from 2018-19. He posted 6g/17a last winter and teammate Derek Topatigh had 6g/4a...Ryan Ferland led Princeton in the nets last year with a .904 save rate and a 3.08 GAA...notable alumni from Princeton include Presidents James Madison and Woodrow Wilson, Vice President Aaron Burr, Michelle Obama, Jimmy Stewart, Brooke Shields, David Duchovny, Bill Bradley (NBA and U.S. Senate) and hockey legend Hobey Baker...Princeton plays its home games at the Hobey Baker Rink, which was built in 1921. The rink and annual hockey award is named in honor of Hobey Baker, who died while serving for his country during WWI.
