#16 St. Cloud State men's hockey falls 5-3 against Princeton

The #16 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (1-2-2, 0-0-0 NCHC) lost a 5-3 decision against Princeton University (1-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on Friday, Nov. 1 in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Huskies and Tigers will complete their weekend home series at the HBNHC with a 6:07 p.m. home game. Tickets for this game are available at www.scsutickets.com or at the gate on the night of the game. SCSU students get in free to this home game for the Huskies. If you are not able to get to the game at the HBNHC, fans can watch the game live on FOX9+ out of the Twin Cities and also on NCHC.tv/scsu. On the radio, SCSU fans can listen live to the call on The River 96.7 FM or KVSC FM 88.1.
Princeton opened the evening's scoring at 1:45 of the first period with a quick goal by Corey Andonovski that made it 1-0. The Huskies replied at 8:47 of the first period with a power play goal by Sam Hentges, which was assisted by Easton Brodzinski and Jack Ahcan.
The TIgers ended the first period scoring with a goal by Liam Grande at 12:20 to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, Princeton extended its lead to 4-1 with back-to-back goals by Jackson Cressey at 9:57 on the power play and Luke Keenan at 12:45.Â
The Huskies rebounded in the second period with a pair of their own goals to close the gap to 4-3. First up, Spencer Meier added his first goal of the season with a marker at 13:34, which was assisted by Hentges and Chase Brand. Hentges then added his third point of the evening with the first assist on Ahcan's power play goal at 15:19 of the second. Meier provided the second assist on the goal for the Huskies.
Hentges has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2019-20 season with four goals and five assists to his credit. He has scored a point in five consecutive games for SCSU and also has scored a goal in the last three consecutive games for the Huskies.
In the third period, Princeton completed the scoresheet with a goal at 14:14 from Spencer Kersten.
On the night, SCSU dominated the stats as it outshot Princeton 34-23 in the contest. David Hrenak was the goalie of record for SCSU with 18 saves and Ryan Ferland had 31 saves in the win for Princeton. On the power play, SCSU was 2-of-5 and Princeton was 1-of-3.
