Power play lifts Colorado College to 4-2 win over SCSU

An effective power play proved to be the difference as Colorado College (3-3-1, 1-1-1 NCHC) charted a 4-2 victory at St. Cloud State University (2-3-4, 0-1-0 NCHC) on Friday, Nov. 15 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Tigers were 3-of-3 on the advantage and opened the game with a PPG at 6:40 of the first period by Nick Halloran. In the second period, CC pushed its lead to 2-0 with another power play goal by Christiano Versich at 3:01 of the period.
The Huskies got back into the action at 7:25 of the second period when Will Hammer connected on his second goal of the season to make it 2-1. He was assisted on the play by Jake Wahlin.
SCSU then tied the contest at 2-2 with a goal by Jami Krannila at 13:41 of the second period. His play was assisted by Easton Brodzinski and Sam Hentges. This was Krannila's first collegiate goal and it was also his second point of 2019-20. Brodzinski now has six assists and 10 points this winter for the Huskies. Hentges has now scored a point in every game of the season for the Huskies and currently paces SCSU with six goals, 10 assists and 16 points after just nine games played this season.
Hentges leads all NCHCÂ players with 16 points this year and also ranks fifth in the country with a scoring rate of 1.78 ppg in 2019-20.
In the third period, CC broke the deadlock at 10:47 with its third power play goal of the game and Versich's second goal of the night to make it 3-2. In the closing minute of play, the Tigers iced the game with an empty net goal at 19:00 by Josiah Slavin.
In the nets, David Hrenak had 29 saves for the Huskies and Matt Vernon was the goalie of record for CC with 20 saves. In the game, CC outshot the Huskies 33-22.
