MARQUETTE, MI. – On the road again; This time the St. Cloud State University women's basketball team is headed to Marquette, MI. to take on Northern Michigan University for their final non-conference game before starting conference play. The Huskies are coming off a weekend sweep of Michigan Tech and MSU-Denver in the MSU-Moorhead tournament. SCSU is currently 3-0 (0-0 NSIC) while Northern Michigan is 1-3 (0-0 GLIAC) and has dropped two games to NSIC opponents already. Saturday, November 23, St. Cloud state will face off with Northern Michigan at 12 p.m. (EST).
The Huskies faced division two opponents for the first time this season in the MSU-Moorhead tournament and showed how well they stack up with two exciting wins. Both Tori Wortz and Kelsey Peschel were selected to the All-Classic team. Wortz averaged 15 points and Peschel averaged 12 points off the bench.
Live stats and video will be available during the game, and fans can also listen to play-by-play on Granite City Sports. Be sure to follow the team's official Twitter page (@SCSUHUSKIES_WBB) for up to date highlights and score alerts.
HERE ARE FIVE THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE TIP-OFF:
17 – The Huskies currently have a scoring margin of 17. St. Cloud State is averaging 71 points per game while holding opponents to an average of 54 points. The offense has been on fire throughout the first three games of the season and the defense has done a great job of contesting shots and forcing turnovers.
48.8 – As a team the Huskies are shooting 48.8 percent from the field. The team has made 74-of-165 attempted shots. If St. Cloud State can keep shooting around 50 percent, many teams will have trouble trying to keep up with their scoring pace.
36.4 – If you need you glass cleaned, the Huskies have you covered. SCSU has cleaned the glass by outrebounding opponents with a 7.4 margin. The Huskies are averaging 36.4 board per game compared to other teams 29.3 rebounds per contest.
11.0 – The St. Cloud State defense has had no trouble forcing turnovers this season. The Huskies come into the weekend averaging 11 steals. Opponents are only averaging 6.3 steals so the Huskies have taken good care of the ball when it is in their possession.
19.3 – When it comes to capitalizing off opponents' mistakes, the Huskies are averaging 19.3 points per game off turnovers. SCSU is outscoring other teams by 10 points in this category.
