
Huskies Hit the Road to Take On Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls

ST. CLOUD, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University is on the road again after coming off of a weekend split at home. After dropping a game to UMary and picking up the teams' first NSIC win over Minot State, the Huskies will be looking for a weekend sweep of Southwest Minnesota State University and the University of Sioux Falls. Fri., December 13, St. Cloud State will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. against SMSU and Sat., December 14, the Huskies will head to South Dakota to take on USF at 3:30 p.m.
SCSU comes into the weekend with a 4-3 (1-2 NSIC) record. SMSU enters the weekend with a 5-3 (0-3 NSIC) record. The Huskies will be looking to take the lone matchup of the season against the Mustangs and keep them winless in the NSIC. Last season, St. Cloud State took down the mustangs 72-60 in their only meeting of the year.
Sioux Falls sits at an unblemished 9-0 (3-0 NSIC). The Huskies will have their hands full trying to knock off the Cougars. This will be the only meeting between these two teams in the regular season. During the 2018-19 season, St. Cloud State beat USF 66-41 at home. The key to sweeping the weekend will be scoring early and getting everyone involved. After taking down Minot State 80-56, St. Cloud State will be looking to keep the offense rolling.

HERE ARE FIVE THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE TIP-OFF:
76.3 – Sioux Falls is fourth in the conference in points per game. The Cougars average 76.3 points per game as shoot 41.4 percent as a team. The Cougars are led offensively by Kaley Hummel. Hummel is averaging 16.4 points per game and is one of the NSIC's top scorers.
72.5 – The SMSU offense comes into weekend play averaging 72.5 points per contest. The Mustangs are only shooting 36.7 percent from the field as a team. Meleah Reinhart is their leading scorer. Reinhart is averaging 16 points per game. Jenna Borches also comes in averaging 13.6 points per contest. The key to a St. Cloud State victory will be containing those two.
57.7 – St. Cloud brings in the third best defense in the NSIC. The Huskies only allow 57.7 points per game. SCSU has made it tough for opponents to score all year, while the Huskies are tasked with trying to contain two high scoring offenses, their defense is welcoming the challenge.
8 – Nikki Kilboten makes it extremely difficult to score in the post. Through seven games, she has collected eight blocks. Kilboten is also averaging just over one steal per game. Kilboten has a been a strong two-way player for the Huskies so far.
Top Performers – Madelin Dammann leads the Huskies with 12.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Nikki Kilboten is averaging 11.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Tori Wortz is right behind the two with 10.9 points per game. Katrina Theis comes in shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc and averaging 9.4 points per contest.
