Huskies Upend NSIC South Leading Augustana, Bring Home a Weekend Sweep

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team (14-8, 11-7 NSIC) is coming home with a weekend sweep after defeating the NSIC South leading Augustana Vikings 64-48 on Saturday night. The victory comes after SCSU picked up a 78-67 victory over Wayne State on Friday night, in Wayne, Neb.
Nikki Kilboten posted her second double-double of the season, putting up 12 points and bringing in 13 rebounds for the Huskies on Saturday. Pacing the scoring efforts for SCSU was sophomore standout, Tori Wortz who recorded 16 points while also charting four rebounds and four assists.
As a team, SCSU shot 35.6 percent (21-59) from the field, 38.1 percent (8-21) from three and 76.5 percent (13-17) at the free throw line. The Huskies held the NSIC's highest scoring offense to their second lowest point total this season with 48. The Vikings shot 32.2 percent (19-59) from the field, 17.6 percent (3-17) from beyond the arc and 70 percent (7-10) at the charity strike.
Caitlyn Peterson posted a career high of nine points in Saturday's win after shooting 50 percent (4-8) from the field while also sending home one from beyond the arc.
Katrina Theis totaled eight rebounds and four points while Mallie Doucette contributed eight points off of the Huskies' bench.
The Huskies return to action with their last regular season road trip of the year from Feb. 15-16 in Moorhead, MN and Aberdeen, S.D.

After being knotted up 15 all after the first quarter, St. Cloud State out-scored Augustana 14-5 in the second quarter to hold a 27-18 lead at the half. Then, the Huskies would pour on 22 points in the third to carry momentum through the duration of the contest.
