Former St. Cloud State University baseball and KVSC play-by-play announcer Thomas Breach will be calling the Cedar Rapids Kernels' (Minnesota Twins A affiliate) radio broadcasts beginning Tuesday, Aug. 27 and serving as their play-by-play voice through the regular season-ending series in Beloit.
The Kernels play the Peoria Chiefs, Quad City River Bandits and Beloit Snappers during that span.  Leading off and playing centerfield for the Kernels' on rehab assignment with be Byron Buxton.
Tuesday's game will already be Breach's 650th career call between high school, amateur, SCSU and Waterloo in the NWL.
"I am so thankful for this incredible opportunity to call professional baseball," Breach said. "For as long as I can remember, my dream has been to serve as the Radio Voice of a Major League Baseball organization.  This is a massive step forward in my career. It was such a blessing to work with Coach Dolan, his staff and team as the Voice of St. Cloud State Baseball. Â
"I most assuredly would not be where I am today without their help and guidance. A very special thanks goes to Coach Dolan, Tom Nelson, Jo McMullen, Jim Gray and Zach Siggelkow for their cooperation and support in coordinating our full-season coverage of Huskies' baseball the past three years. With the Huskies, I had the opportunity to call games at minor league stadiums in Arizona and Missouri, U.S. Bank Stadium and of course Minute Maid Park! And now thanks to the Huskies, I'll be calling actual minor league baseball!"
