St. Cloud State Swim and Dive to host home meet this week

The St. Cloud State University men's and women's swim and dive teams will host a pair of home dual meets this week in the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Complex. On Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m., the Huskies will host UW-LaCrosse and then complete the week with a home meet at 2 p.m. against NCAA Division I rival South Dakota State University on Saturday, Jan. 18.  Â
The meet on Jan. 18 has been designated as SCSU swim and dive Senior and Parents Day, and the meet will include a special tribute to the 2019-20 seniors on the swim and dive teams at St. Cloud State.

SCSU Swim and Dive News and Notes:
• The St. Cloud State University swim and dive teams will return to action after a break for the holidays. The last competition for the Huskies was at the Rochester Invite on Dec. 6-8. SCSU stayed in top form over the break during their annual winter break trip to Puerto Rico. The Huskies spent the week in Puerto Rico training at an outdoor aquatic complex and enjoying some of the sights on the island. Check out the video highlights from the trip below.
• The Huskies are prepping for their upcoming conference meets in February. The SCSU men's team will travel to the GLIAC Championships in University Center, Mich. on Feb. 19-22 and the SCSU women's team will defend their NSIC title on Feb. 12-15 at the NSIC championships in Bismarck, N.D. Of note, this year's NCAA Division II championships are scheduled for Mar. 11-14 in Geneva, Ohio. Last year, SCSU's women's team placed 20th at the 2019 NCAA DII championships and the Huskies' men's team placed 26th at the NCAA DII championships (and fourth at the 2019 GLIAC championships).
• In the latest rankings on the CollegeSwimming.com website, SCSU ranked 26th among DII men and 21st among NCAA DII women. In the latest CSCAA NCAA DII rankings, the SCSU women ranked 16th and the men's team received votes in the poll.
• In the latest CollegeSwimming.com rankings, SCSU's Abe Townley ranks 14th in the 50 fly with a time of 22.48. In the 1M men's diving event, SCSU's Evan Infante is ranked 15th among DII divers and he ranks fifth among DII divers in the 3M event.
• On the women's team, SCSU's Alyssa Doherty (3rd), Madison Brinkman (4th), Rebekah Stone (6th) and Meredith Matchinsky (10th) are all ranked in the top 10 among NCAA DII divers in the 3M event. In the current 1M NCAA DII rankings, SCSU's Rebekah Stone is ranked eighth and Madison Brinkman is ranked 12th. In the 100 IM, Alexis Burroughs is ranked fifth among DII swimmers with a time of 58.77. In the 200 free relay, SCSU is ranked 19th with a time of 1:35.21 and the SCSU 800 free relay is ranked 21st at 7:40.37.
• The matches against UW-LaCrosse and SDSU will mark the final regular season events for the Huskies before they compete at their conference meets. Tickets for the meets on Jan. 16 and Jan. 18 are available at the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Complex ticket window.
