QUOTABLES
St. Cloud State Women's Hockey Head Coach Steve Macdonald
"There was a lot of positives throughout the game. I think we did a lot of things well for stretches against a good team. When you're facing a team that has a lot of individual talent and you give them chances, they're going to capitalize. I thought we were starting to read pressure well. We broke the puck out well which is key against them. We did some things really well on the forecheck that created some opportunities for us and gave us some positive momentum in the offensive zone. Those were some of the things we did well in the first, and then we let it slip a little in the second, but I thought we were able to continue a few stretches in the third."
On Emma Gentry and Addi Scribner's offensive success… "I think both were playing well. Gentry, she's really starting to get her positioning down which is helping her. Minimizing movements, being a more efficient player on the ice, and she finds those soft spots. She's a goal scorer. You find that space, the puck's on her stick, and she's probably going to be scoring. You're seeing that now – we're really happy with where her play's at. Addi Scribner, she's a player that's been bounced around to different positions in her career, but she's really finding a home at center. I think she's doing extremely well, finding a spot on the power play."
On Taylor Lind's two-point night… "For her, it's all her poise with the puck. She's a player who has really been honing her game, especially with the poise. Sometimes she needs to shoot it more as well, but her poise has really allowed her to be complimentary player to the other two [on the top line.]"
On areas to address in the finale… "It's just about closing the gap in terms of those moments. Creating more positive moments for us – we're implementing a lot of those things we've been working on this week, which is positive. We need to look at that and find ways to be more consistent in that area, and to close in some of the other areas. Specifically in the backcheck, they're a team that has a lot of speed and they're very good on their zone entries so looking to take away that aspect of their game will also contribute to more success for us."
