
Men's basketball routs Minot State for NSIC sweep

Four Huskies score 15+ points in the victory
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – It's all starting to come together for the St. Cloud State University men's basketball team. THe Huskies earned their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) sweep of the 2021-22 sweep, as they used strong defense to take down Minot State 82-67 in Halenbeck Hall. Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) led the team in both scoring and rebounds, finishing the game with 20 points and 12 boards.
GAME SUMMARY
St. Cloud State was forced to play the majority of the first half without big man Josh Tomasi (Melbourne, Australia / Box Hill), who took two fouls five minutes into the game. Still the Huskies managed to keep pace with Minot State, thanks to early threes from Ryan Bagley (Pocatello, Idaho / Burley) and clutch baskets from Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington). St. Cloud State finally caught up to the visitors in the final seconds, as Matthew Willert (Buffalo, Minn. / Buffalo) drained a three with 11 seconds to cut the lead to 36-35.
The second half turned into a shootout, as both the Huskies and Minot State battled for supremacy on the scoreboard. St. Cloud State eventually grabbed it at roughly the 10 minute mark, as Anthony Roberts (Chicgao, Ill. / Oak Park) and Donaldson went on a 6-0 run to five the Huskies a 56-52 advantage. St. Cloud State only extended its lead from there, jumping ahead 73-60 with exactly three minutes remaining in regulation before clinching the 82-67 victory on free throws by Bagley.

- Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) tallied his second double-double of the weekend and fourth of the season, closing the game with a team-leading 20 points and 12 rebounds.
- Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) finished his stellar weekend with 17 points on 7-11 shooting with eight rebounds, four assists and a steal, while Ryan Bagley (Pocatello, Idaho / Burley) and Matthew Willert (Buffalo, Minn. / Buffalo) also scored 17 points.
UP NEXT
St. Cloud State will hit the road for its final games before the holiday break, as the Huskies will face MSU-Moorhead and Northern State December 17-18. Friday's tipoff in Moorhead, Minnesota is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., while Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
