
Balanced scoring and lockdown defense earns Huskies 82-50 win in Crookston

CROOKSTON, Minn. – St. Cloud State University Men's Basketball held Minnesota-Crookston to shoot just 34% from the floor and forced 12 turnovers in a 82-50 win on the road Thursday evening. The Huskies outscored the Golden Eagles 42-14 in the paint and scored 21 points off turnovers while seeing Anthony Roberts, Matthew Willert and Josh Tomasi score in double-figures. After the weekend, St. Cloud State's record now stands at 4-4 overall and 1-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play.
GAME SUMMARY
St. Cloud State's defense held tight throughout the contest, holding UMC to just 28% shooting in the first half while playing disciplined on the offensive end. The Huskies turned the ball over just four times and scored 14 second-chance points as part of a 47-rebound effort. As a team, SCSU shot 38% from outside the arc in the second half to put away Minnesota-Crookston for good.
TOP HUSKIES
- Anthony Roberts led in scoring with 19 on 5-of-10 shooting and hit all eight of his free throws, adding seven boards and a pair of assists
- Matthew Willert scored 18 points while hitting four of his nine threes and pulling down nine rebounds.
- Josh Tomasi finished a rebound shy of a double-double to go with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
- Caleb Donaldson added six points on 50% shooting with six assists and five rebounds.
- Ryan Bagley had eight boards, four assists, two steals and a block.
