Fitzgerald, Kupka and Perbix score goals for the Huskies in loss
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 5/6 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (10-6-0, 4-4-0 NCHC) dropped the second game of the series to No. 7 North Dakota (11-6, 6-2 NCHC), 5-3, on Saturday evening at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. The Huskies and Fighting Hawks went into the first intermission tied, 2-2, but three North Dakota goals, two in the second and one in the third, gave the Hawks a three-goal lead.
TURNING POINT
The Hawks took the lead for good just 1:37 into the second period when Gavin Hain scored a shorthanded goal to take a 3-2 lead. The Hawks added another goal from Louis Jamernik halfway through the second period and a fifth and final goal in the third period.

TOP HUSKIES
- Senior defenseman Nick Perbix (Elk River, Minn.) scored a goal and added an assist to give him six points on the weekend.
- Senior forward Kevin Fitzgerald (Hinsdale, Ill.) scored a goal 17 seconds into the game and assisted on a goal later in the first period.
- Junior forward Kyler Kupka (Camrose, Alberta) scored his second goal in as many nights with a late first period goal.
- St. Cloud State scored 17 seconds into the game, just five seconds off the school record for quickest goal scored, which was 12 seconds against Michigan Tech on March 13, 1993 by Fred Kripscheer.
- Perbix scored his first goal of the season and 17th of his career in the third period, while adding his 10th assist on the season and 52nd of his career. He now has 69 career points after registering six points in the series with four assists on Friday.
- Fitzgerald scored two points, one goal and one assist, in the game to give him 21 points on the season. His 21 points are a new season career-high after scoring 19 points in 2017-18.
- Kupka scored his second goal of the season and fifth of his career in the first period.
- Senior forward Nolan Walker (Anchorage, Ala.), sophomore forward Veeti Miettinen (Espoo, Finland) and freshman defenseman Jack Peart (Grand Rapids, Minn.) each recorded assists in the game.
