
Men's swim and dive set for GLIAC Championships

HOLLAND, MICH. - The St. Cloud University men's swim and dive team has spent all of its abbreviated season preparing for this very week: the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Swimming and Diving Championships. The conference championship will take place Wednesday, February 17 through Saturday, February 20 at the Holland Community Aquatic Center in Holland, Michigan.Â
This year's GLIAC Swimming and Diving Championship will be hosted by Davenport and Grand Valley State, two of the teams St. Cloud State will battle for supremacy. Other teams competing: Ashland, Northern Michigan, Saginaw Valley State and Wayne State (Michigan).Â
This will be the Huskies third year competing in the GLIAC, as they joined the conference as a part-time affiliate in 2018-19. In both 2018-19 and 2019-20, St. Cloud State finished fourth as a team, while Grand Valley State was crowned conference champion both seasons. The Lakers have won the GLIAC Men's Swim and Dive Championships for six consecutive seasons and are nine time champions dating back to 2005.Â
The Huskies had a pretty outstanding 2020-21 regular season, as they went 3-0 in three meets, all against Division I opponents. St. Cloud State defeated South Dakota State University twice in January by scores of 128.7-75.5 and 108-97. The Huskies additionally beat the University of South Dakota on January 23, taking down the Coyotes 166-134.Â
Each of the four days of the GLIAC Swimming and Diving Championships will feature two sessions. The morning session will begin at 10 a.m. ET with an evening session to follow at 6 p.m. ET. More information, and links to video, can be found on the GLIAC's official championships page.
