Rachel sent down a whopping 13 kills on .360 hitting, adding two blocks. Huskies Primer
SCSU held firm at No. 7 in this week's AVCA Top-25 poll, remaining in the Top-10 for the 10th straight week. The Huskies have won three straight matches, downing both Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston in straight sets last weekend. Defense has been a strength for the Huskies down the stretch, holding opponents below a .190 attack percentage in five of their last seven matches. Defending the net has also presented scoring opportunities aplenty as St. Cloud State has double-digit blocks in seven of their last 10.
Scouting No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth
Jim Boos' Bulldogs have enjoyed a lethal offensive attack in 2022, leaning on their balanced complement of hitters to enter the weekend 21-2, 13-2 in conference play. UMD puts down 14.4 kills/set - sixth in the NCAA - on .260 hitting as Madison Gordon (11.33 A/S) spreads the ball between Cianna Selbitschka (3.23 K/S, .236), Sydney Lanoue (2.95 K/S, .215), Samantha Paulsen (2.80 K/S, .345), Grace Daak (2.35 K/S, .300) and Hope Schjenken (2.30 K/S, .303). Payton Addink returned to the lineup last weekend and put away 19 kills on better than .400 hitting, providing another option to a versatile attack.
Scouting MSU-Moorhead
MSUM is 7-16 with a 4-11 mark in NSIC play, fresh off a weekend sweep of Mary and Minot State. The Dragons funnel their offense through Bridget Witzmann (3.27 K/S, .160) and have received productive seasons from middle pairing Tori Thompson (2.00 K/S, .286) and Abby Thompson (1.46 K/S, .273). Fellow middle Elise Bakke (0.75 B/S) is the leading blocker while Macie Wieman (4.01 D/S) anchors the defense.
Scouting Northern State
The Northern State Wolves enter the week 14-9 and 9-6 in Northern Sun action. Sally Gaul (3.86 K/S, .252) and Taylor Buckley (3.05 K/S, .261) form a talented two-headed monster at the pin for Keri Walker (10.92 A/S) with Hanna Thompson (2.31 K/S, .201) adding swings from the right side. Madison Langlie (4.29 D/S) quarterbacks the defense while Abby Brooks (1.20 B/S) and Cara Cyr (1.04 B/S) each have posted north of a block per set.
