Quotables – St. Cloud State head coach Brian Idalski
On the quick deficit to start the game… "I think that's a byproduct of a few different things. It's the first time facing them. They are fast, they move the puck super-well, they knew this was a bigger game and they came ready to play. We spotted them a couple before we got our feet going and understanding some of the things structurally that they do, that we had discussed beforehand. I thought we got better as the game went on."
"It'll be interesting to see how we come back tomorrow. I felt pretty good about the fact that after the shock and awe of giving up a couple there that we righted the ship and played pretty solid. Defensively we did a good job, offensively we're going to have to generate more on that end. Hopefully we get a couple of power plays tomorrow."
On the Huskies' defensive effort… "Towards the end of the first, we started to say, 'Okay, we're alright. We can skate, we can make plays, we have more time than we think.' I thought we gained a little confidence out of that. Second period we were much better at daring to play, handling pucks, pressuring them, and just did a much better job all the way around of doing what we do. That was a good positive."
"We never felt like we were out of it, we never felt like we didn't have a chance. We played the way we have to play, and we just didn't get the bounce today. They are a super-good team. You have to tip your hat to them – that's a good hockey team, that's what we're aspiring to be."
