
Huskies secure spot in NSIC Tournament with 76-71 win over UMC

ST. CLOUD, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University men's basketball team is headed back to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) tournament. The Huskies earned a clutch 76-71 win over Minnesota-Crookston in Halenbeck Hall Thursday evening, securing the final place in the NSIC Tournament. With the win, St. Cloud State is now 10-16 overall and 6-12 in NSIC play.
GAME SUMMARY
The Huskies trailed 40-37 at the half despite a well-balanced scoring effort in the opening 20 minutes. No St. Cloud State player scored in double-digits, but every starter scored more than five points in the first half. Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) and Luke Taylor (Germantown, Wis. / Germantown) led the Huskies in scoring in the opening 20 minutes of play, tallying nine points apiece, while Ryan Bagley (Pocatello, Idaho / Burley) led with five rebounds.
St. Cloud State closed the three-point gap early in the second half, cutting the Golden Eagles lead to 44-43 with 14:55 remaining in regulation. That sparked a huge offensive run for the Huskies, allowing them to take a 55-49 lead at the 10 minute mark. Minnesota-Crookston hung with St. Cloud State in the final minutes, but the Huskies held off the Golden Eagles late run, winning by a final score of 76-71.

- Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) led the team with 22 points in the victory and added seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals.
- Matthew Willert (Buffalo, Minn. / Buffalo) added 18 points in the victory, while Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) and Luke Taylor (Germantown, Wis. / Germantown) each scored 13.
- Ryan Bagley (Pocatello, Idaho / Burley) recorded a double-double with 10 points and a team-leading 10 rebounds.
