Olympian Sam Hentges scores in return to team
OMAHA, Neb. – No. 8 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey (15-11-3, 7-9-3 NCHC) was unable to capture momentum at all in a 5-1 setback to Omaha, who completed the series sweep on Saturday night at Baxter Arena in Omaha, Neb. In his return from the Olympics, senior forward Sam Hentges (New Brighton, Minn.) scored his seventh goal of the season.
TURNING POINT
The Huskies were never able to build off momentum on the weekend, as the Mavericks scored just 1:12 after Hentges third period goal. The senior forward's goal put the Huskies within one score at 2-1, but Tyler Weiss scored at the 2:42 mark of the third period to make the score 3-1.
Omaha would tack on an empty net goal and another with less than a minute remaining to finish off the scoring, 5-1.

St. Cloud State will return home to face No. 6 Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Puck drop from the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is slated for 6:00 p.m. CT on Fox 9 +.

- Hentges scored his seventh goal of the season in just his 12th game suited up for the Huskies.
- Junior defenseman Ondrej Trejbal (Hamry nad Sazavau, Czech Republic) and senior forward Easton Brodzinski (Blaine, Minn.) recorded assists on Hentges' goal.
- Junior goalie Jaxon Castor (Phoenix, Ariz.) came in relief and made 23 saves for the Huskies.
- Hentges' third period goal was his seventh of the season and 32nd of his career, as well as his 75th career point.
- Although this was Hentges first game back since Jan. 29, the goal continues an impressive stretch of six goals in his last seven games dating back to Dec. 31, 2021.
- Trejabal recorded a point in his second consecutive game with his seventh assist and ninth point on the season.
- Brodzinski produced his 12th assist of the season to record his 121st career point, moving into a tie for 17th on the all-time D-I scoring list with Nic Dowd (2010-14) and Robby Jackson (2015-19) while surpassing Patrick Newell (120, 2015-19).
- The senior from Blaine played in his 168th career game as a Husky and will tie Drew LeBlanc for the most games played by a skater if he plays in St. Cloud State's next three games.
- Graduate defenseman Seamus Donohue (North Oaks, Minn.) played in his 150th consecutive game and 177th of his career, though 117 of those games came at Michigan Tech (2017-20).
- Castor's 23 saves marked the fourth time this season and the seventh time in his career he has made at least 20 saves.
