Huskies open WCHA Quarterfinals at No. 2 Ohio State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey opens postseason play this weekend with the WCHA Quarterfinals, traveling to Columbus to face No. 2 Ohio State for the best-of-three series. The second-seeded Buckeyes play host to the seven seed Huskies with Game One at the OSU Ice Rink scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CST on Friday. Game Two will begin at 2:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, with the if-necessary Game Three scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CST on Sunday.

SCSU closed their regular season with a 9-21-3 record, 4-20-3 in conference for the seventh seed. First Team All-WCHA goaltender Emma Polusny enjoyed a tremendous showing in 2021-22, stopping shots at a .925 clip with a 2.85 GAA. Taylor Lind (8-17-25) and Emma Gentry (15-8-23) have anchored the top line and will be rejoined by Jenniina Nylund (7-8-15) as she makes her return from earning Bronze in Beijing. Olivia Cvar (10-4-14) has scored 10 goals in her junior season and is joined on the second line by Olympic returnee Klara Hymlarova (2-4-6), centered by Courtney Hall (3-10-13). Dayle Ross leads the blueliners with 56 blocks while McKenna Wesloh is the D point leader with a 1-7-8 line.
No. 2 Ohio State finished 25-6-0, 21-6-0 in WCHA action for the second seed. Andrea Braendli went 9-3-0 with a 1.84 GAA and a .924 save percentage while spending time in Beijing with Switzerland, while tending partner Amanda Thiele chartered a 12-3-0 record with a 1.27 GAA and a .940 save percentage in her absence. Sophie Jaques (18-35-53), Jenna Buglioni (17-25-42), Paetyn Levis (18-23-41), Liz Schepers (18-23-41) and Clair DeGeorge (13-28-41) each eclipsed the 40-point mark while Jennifer Gardiner (14-24-38) and Gabby Rosenthal (17-14-31) both topped the 30-point mark. The Buckeyes closed out the regular season winning six of seven, including a 6-2 final over the Huskies at the HBNHC on February 8.
