
Women’s basketball closes homestand with Northern State, MSU-Moorhead

ST. CLOUD, MINN. - Time flies when you're the St. Cloud State University women's basketball team. After opening the season back in November, the Huskies enter the final month of the regular season this weekend, as they host Northern State and MSU-Moorhead in the final home Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) series of the 2021-22 regular season.
Friday's tip off against the Wolves is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall, while Saturday's game is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. On Friday, St. Cloud State Athletics will host a pizza party for all students in attendance in the North Balcony of Halenbeck Hall. Pizza will be served at 6:30 p.m. in between the men's and women's games.
At this time, all fans in attendance will need to wear masks in accordance with the University's policy. Live stats and video will be available for fans who are not in attendance, and fans can tune in to two live radio broadcasts. Score updates will also be posted to the team's Twitter account (@SCSUHUSKIES_WBB).
Here are the five things to know before this weekend's NSIC contests:
87 - This weekend, St. Cloud State will honor its four seniors: Tori Wortz (Hutchinson, Minn. / Hutchinson), Erin Navratil (Albany, Minn. / Albany), Caitlyn Peterson (Lakeville, Minn. / Lakeville North) and Nikki Kilboten (Eau Claire, Wis. / Eau Claire North). In five seasons, these four seniors have compiled an overall record of 87-36 with two appearances in both the NSIC / Sanford Health Tournament Championship game and NCAA Tournament. The quad led the Huskies to their first conference tournament title since 2008-09 back in 2019-20 and are the first class to make back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances since the early 2000s.
.475 - Many people may remember Navratil's debut. After playing volleyball for the Huskies in 2017 and 2018, the then sophomore joined St. Cloud State's women's basketball roster in 2018-19, coming off the bench in the final 15 games of the season. As a sophomore, Navratil shot .475 from the floor, including an impressive .429 clip from beyond the arc. Navratil played both volleyball and basketball for the Huskies as a sophomore and junior before deciding to focus only on basketball for her senior season in 2021-22.
117 - Peterson was a driving force behind St. Cloud State's NSIC / Sanford Health Tournament Championship run in 2019-20, having appeared in all 29 games for the Huskies that season. Often one of the first players off the bench, Peterson scored a career-high 117 points in 2019-20 and additionally set career-highs in rebounds (101), minutes played (566) and assist (35).
5/8 - Kilboten has been a defensive stalwart for the Huskies since she stepped foot on campus in 2017. The fifth year senior ranks fifth all-time in career blocks (199) and eight in career rebounds (757) and eclipsed the 1000 career points mark earlier this season. Additionally, Kilboten is a two-time NSIC North Division Player of the Week this season and was named Second Team All-NSIC in both 2019-20 and 2020-21.
1558 - There isn't much Wortz hasn't done in her five-year career at St. Cloud State. As a sophomore, she scored 40 points against Bemidji State, which ranks third all-time in single-game scoring. As a junior, she scored her 1000th career point in a playoff with over Sioux Falls and eclipsed the 1500 career point mark earlier this season. Currently, Wortz ranks tenth all-time in scoring (1558), and is just the 11th player in program history to score over 1500 points as a Husky.
