Schiller gets game-winning hit in ninth to beat the Mustangs
BRANDON, S.D. – St. Cloud State (23-10, 15-4 NSIC) and Southwest Minnesota State (8-12, 1-16 NSIC) went the distance in their series finale when redshirt sophomore Tyler Schiller (1-for-4, BB, RBI) walked it off with an RBI single to give the Huskies a 4-3 win over the Mustangs. In his eighth start of the season, senior Ryan Duffy (7.0 IP, 5 H, R, 0 BB, 7 K's) was able to strand seven runners for SMSU allowing the lone run in the sixth.
The Huskies led after the first pitch of the ballgame when redshirt sophomore John Nett blasted a solo home run in his third straight game. SCSU held a 3-1 lead heading into the eighth and the bats came alive for the Mustangs. They plated two runs on four hits to tie the game at three and steal the momentum from St. Cloud State. However, St. Cloud was able to keep SMSU off the board in the final inning and capitalized on their chance in the bottom of the inning to finish off a series sweep with a 4-3 win.
KEY MOMENT
With runners on the corners for SMSU in the top ninth with two outs in a tie game, redshirt sophomore Tommy Thompson (1.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB) induced a groundout to second base to send the Huskies back to the plate.

"The biggest things for me were to clear my head and not make the moment too big. My only focus was to get John in from third and it all worked out. We hope to keep grinding games even when they aren't going our way. Sometimes games are clicking more than others, but we're still finding ways to win."
UP NEXT
St. Cloud State will look to continue their winning ways in a midweek series against Northern State on Wednesday, April 20. The Huskies and Wolves will play a doubleheader at Joe Faber Field with start times of 1:30 p.m. CT and 3:30 p.m. CT.
