St. Cloud State Baseball Returns to NSIC Play Against Bemidji State

Huskies and Beavers will play three-game slate on Saturday and Sunday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Baseball (9-10, 5-1 NSIC) returns to the state of Minnesota and conference play in its next series, facing off against Bemidji State (5-11, 2-4 NSIC) this weekend at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. The three-game series will start with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 14 at 12:00 p.m. CT followed by a single game on Sunday, March 15 at 12:00 p.m. CT.

US BANK STADIUM HISTORY
SCSU will play at U.S. Bank Stadium, the home of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings, for the second time this season and sixth time overall since 2017. SCSU is 12-2 all-time in 10 games at "The Bank". Previously, the Huskies occasionally played at the H.H.H. Metrodome, the previous home of the Vikings and the MLB's Minnesota Twins, over three decades, including 11+ games every season from 1984-87. The Huskies swept a four-game series against Northern State on Feb. 26 and 28, winning the four games by a combined score of 40-12 with three games of 10+ runs.

MORENO'S BIG SERIES AT THE BANK LEADS TO NSIC WEEKLY HONOR
Redshirt senior Liam Moreno (Sun Prairie, Wis.) was named the NSIC Player of the Week after hitting .625 (10-for-16) in a four-game sweep of Northern State at US Bank Stadium on Feb. 26 and 28.
Moreno was red hot at the plate in the sweep, hitting .625 (10-for-16) with a double, six RBI, eight runs and five stolen bases. He recorded a .667 OBP% and .688 SLG% for a whopping 1.355 OPS. The Husky senior had two or more hits in three of the four games, including a 4-for-4 with three runs in the 11-1 win on Thursday. Moreno swiped a bag in each game and had two in Saturday's 15-8 win. Following the 10-for-16 performance, Moreno raised his average from .200 to .389.
On the season, he is hitting .378 with a .913 OPS, one home run, five doubles, 15 RBI, 17 runs and a team-leading 10 stolen bases.
NOTES FROM THE MOUND
A trio of Huskies teamed up to get SCSU's first win of the season, a 5-3 victory over Missouri Western on Feb. 15. Sophomore A.J. Price (Neenah,Wis.) earned his first collegiate win in his 19th appearance and third career start, pitching 5.0 innings with one earned run and three strikeouts. His five-inning outing is a career long, surpassing a four-inning start against Concordia-St. Paul on April 9, 2025. Freshman Brayden Simones (Sartell, Minn.) made his collegiate debut and earned the save with four strikeouts over 1.2 innings.
Senior Kahler Key (Onalaska, Wis.) came on in relief and pitched effectively over five innings while earning his first collegiate career win in an 8-7 win over Wayne State (Feb.), allowing three runs, two earned on eight hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. Key then made his second career start and first start this season against Northern State (Feb. 26) and went a career-long six innings while only allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts to earn his second consecutive win. Key leads the Huskies in ERA at 2.91 with a 27:14 strikeout to walk ratio.
Redshirt junior Hayden Frank (St. Michael, Minn.) had his best start to-date as a Husky in a 3-0 win over Northern State (Feb. 28), pitching six scoreless innings while only allowing three hits with two strikeouts.
Senior Bryce Brassfield (Gilbert, Ariz.) was dominant in a 9-3 win over Saginaw Valley State on March 4, throwing eight innings while scattering three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts. He matched his career-long outing while setting a new career-high in strikeouts. In five starts this season, Brassfield is 2-2 with a 4.40 ERA and a 33:7 strikeout to walk ratio.
